Here's what I would like to see for Shai.
Yippee needs some adjustments. It needs a fall damage protection buff like Lahn gets, and needs to be fixed so it doesn't randomly cancel when you go off edges into the air. Sometimes you can finish the skill and ride out into the air, sort of gliding to the ground. Other times it just abruptly cancels itself as soon as you hit the air. Even when it does work, you usually take damage from the fall, at which point it either abruptly cancels like above or let's you finish the skill. Those are the things it needs. What I want to see is for it to last longer and at least get FG.
Kwik-Two, Twirl-Three, Eat This!, and Hop-Three should get flow abilities.
Shai group buffs should last longer on herself. In a group it's fine if you stop fighting for 10 seconds to reapply everything to the party, because they can keep fighting. But in solo pve it ranges from a pain to suicide.

Shai could use a few different attacks utilizing the aspect of florang surf.
Imagine she goes into florang surf mode to gain super armor and movement speed, to throw the sprinkle-sparkle orbs.
or
does a quick florang surf into a direct collision attack, ramming into the enemy and dismounting the florang.
the concept of her using this as a new kind of attack method would be pretty nice.
Remember when shai had good addons, and her skill design was going to be summoning all the animals you find in Grana, like the leopards. Ah good times. Would have been nice for her to be a dot class. Leopards stick to a target and slow them, griffin would push back and could jump on him to jump into people and ride him for movement. So many possibilies and they went with fairy splashes.

BdoMobile shai does this better.
Surf to attack, then back to surf was seemless
They get the bear summon too - which could serve as a good guard breaker against turtle classes.
I do miss the tier three addons and low cd misty haze....
Just found this thread, +1
With that said, talent weapon has got to go. Please give us succession vs awakening.
Amen!
I dont think that anybody even believes that Talent slot or Talent tree is anything other than Awakening with a different label to excuse unusual treatment.
Awakening Shai is too difficult to balance for the 98% of the game that is solo without being completely overpowered in group content.
Succession Shai solves that by allowing us to have a spec seperate and balanced away from our buff songs. I dont personally mind rebuffing, I find there is often a sweet spot between packs while waiting for mobs to funnel into our tiny aoe zone- but also, its not an engaging mechanic and it doesnt really make sense that we do a bizarre flute blow just for ourselves every minute. It is not a mechanic which would be missed in Succession Shai solo play
The only thing I disagree with from the. OP is that Shai being a beginner class. Ever since pearl abyss nerfed Shai, she has been abysmal pre 293k. I do not recommend her for new players unless they play dp and don't mind living at upper gyfins where they can grind in dp and support once they get a pen sol.
I didnt think of this when I was reading but its a really good point. Shai can be easy to grasp and can be a forgiving class to learn on..
but there are plenty of classes at least as easy to play as Shai... and we're so bad at early and mid game that I and others often recommend that newshai play a different class until ~gyfin underground
