Dark Shrine Issue and how to solve them

First of all, I want to say that the dark shrine concept and bosses are well-designed. Yes, there are still bugs, for example in the bamboo legion or pig king shrine but I wanna talk about current issues that I notice in regards to the shrine.

1.) Advantages by elixirs: If you want to have a good score, you NEED to run elixirs. If you want to run c5+ (calamity 5 or higher) it is essential to run at least draining and grim reaper for hp recovery. Besides that elixirs like detection also give special attack modifiers which amplify the damage by a lot, allowing way better times on the rankings than other people. So whenever you want good rankings you burn those, especially on c6 or c7. Especially c7 can eat up around 20-100 full elixir rotations. But how do we solve that issue? Well dark shrines could have an UI like the arena of solare did, where players could pick their elixirs that are going to be activated for free for this boss. This way everyone would have the same chances and it would be a ranking by skill of a player (mostly, we come to issues regarding to that later)

2.) RNG mechanics: Bosses like songakshi have a skillset that contains phases where bosses are nearly unattackable or not attackable at all. These counts towards the timer and generates a time disadvantages. This means, when you want to have a good time for c1 to c5 ranks for example you need to hit esc -> enter -> restart everytime she uses certain skills, just because you got unlucky on her skill pattern. It would make sense to have bosses only trigger those events to certain behavior. For example, fleeing from it, picking up heal ors or something else. This way the player has more control over the fight and the high scores he can achieve.

3.) PVE Iframes are unreliable: And by unreliable I mean they are not working at the right time or not connecting properly. This is a MASSIVE issue once you want to clear c7 bosses and can even be annoying on c6 clear as well. Some bosses like pig king can literally become impossible on certain classes. This also means that even if a player is really skilled and knows how to handle mechanics/bosses the biggest factor is being lucky on iframes to not get 1 shot or die to bosses or mechanics. To show the issue I recorded this problem because it can reliably be reproduced.

To make this less of an issue either Iframes or only PVE iframes should linger slightly longer in pve to prevent this issue. The other possibility would be to improve the connection of different skills. However this would result in way more aford since all skill linkings of all classes that exist would be affected. For example strikers rabam backstep doesn't really connect well with S block. Trying to connect backstep with any other protection skill in dark shrine most likely gets you killed.

4.) Rewards: I personally cleared c1-c5 Songakshi on the first week and #1 on all of them as striker. It was a bit sad to get no good rewards even tho I managed to climb the top rank of my class. To put it in perspective: I could grind out money (1-2b/h) on different spots, do dungeons to make a lot of money or I could run dark shrines. Of course, I could simply just clear it and get a reward but putting the afford in it to get rank 1 (maybe multiple hours) and get nothing valuable is really frustrating. Everyone can grind spots, but only a single person per class can be the best at a dark shrine boss. This should in my opinion get honoured with a decent reward. c1-c5 could get a guaranteed fragment crystal or crystal of harmony if they place as rank 1. c5-7 could get the upgraded version (crystal version e.g. girin's crystal). Additionally, the hardest available difficulty should at least give a base debo earring for a clear and maybe even an upgraded version (up to duo) if rank 1. This is because c7 in the current state of the game is absurdly hard and even unclearable on certain shrines with certain classes. A single c7 clear on certain bosses (bari/songakshi/bamboo legion) can take between 3-5h of afford or more. Additionally several elixir rotations are required. This refers to the current state of the game and changes in the future with the release of new difficulties and light orbs!

This is my feedback on the shrines. I hope it will be heard and PA looks into some of the issues, especially the iframes.

a lot of things need to get optimized I spend a solid hr on cal6 bamboo got the boss to 15% and insta died to to something desyncing somewhere.. Not to mention that some of those packs tank fps there was a few times i would dash to a health pack on the ground have major frame drops and dash right through my health pack only for an arch to shoot me and i die. You would think 2 months of KR having it before us they would of worked out some of these kinks...

I like the suggestion for 1. Normalize what consumables are allowed to a specific list. I bet crap like carolines buff also works (haven't tested it). Don't want to be competing with somebody that is ok with going to heidel and back every 30 minutes. I still have a Pi in inventory for a rainy day - I'll bet this also works.

Suggestion 2 I also agree with to a certain extend. Some phases should be more scripted than they are right now. I've been doing Gumiho C7 for almost 14 hours and getting past phase 3 REQUIRES her to do favourable attack patterns because the dps check is so tight. It feels extremely bad to be rng walled here many times. I'm sure I can improve my dps a lot so that less favourable patterns become more doable but it's poor design to have a dps check section with very high pattern variance. At the very least she should do less patterns where she goes afk and can't hit her.

Not really experienced 3 on maegu but dashes are slow animation compared to other classes so can't really comment. I can certainly imagine that there are gaps in many classes pve iframes that makes it much more difficult.

Massively agree with 4. It's not rewarding enough to get good times. Also after doing first clear of Gumiho C7 I probably won't even touch it again, it's way too difficult to bother doing again for the same reward as other C7 bosses which I believe are significantly easier.

Sure I guess you enjoy a mandatory trip to heidel every 30 minutes or farming snowfield cedar sap. Definitely prefer doing that over just playing the boss more /s

in response to all your points. Here are some of my thoughts in this conversation

Point 1 : I actually like this idea. it makes sense to me. I would not like this idea "if" the boss rush mode was more profitable. Since it's not really all that much profitable, I think this suggestion is great.

Point 2 : Im actually not a fan of this. While RNG in the bosses moves are definitely a factor, this is a common feature in so many games. Ive even watched speedrunners in older titles pray for "good move rng" in hopes that the boss doesnt make the fight longer than it has to. Im not a fan of it crunching down to 10 minutes, but im overall satisfied with how this is. Sometimes you just get unlucky rolls, im ok with this.

Point 3 : The iframe issue is so apparent. Its clear that other classes thrive better than others. As of now, i have no idea what the real solution is, but i agree that if thjey are going to inject the "evasion roll" as its useable iframe, then it needs to hold truer and be more reliable. longer linger or chains better into other moves in order to close gaps. the iframe roll shouldnt be spammable so theyd have to be cautious with that.

Point 4 : I dont know if i fully agree with the reward system or your solution. But doing these bosses absolutely does not hold much gravity when it comes to the reward pool. There are definitely chances for cool things, but they should maybe throw gold bars in the bundles for completions. Example : 50mil gold bar for completing lvl 1 and it goes up 50mil per level. So lvl 7 would give you 700mil in gold bars +whatever else drops.

Im unsure if my reward suggestion is "the answer", but something that guarantees profit for time spent i think would create a much large appeal for people to want to invest more time into this game mode itself as a whole and potentially invest longer periods of time by dedicating more effort to harder fights because the reward system makes it worth while to run.

Hopefully this adds more weight to this topic and conversation as we figure out potential solutions together.

Rewards need to be improved especially for higher difficutlies and the weekly limit needs to be removed or at the very least increased.

Can we finally get some QoL changes to Boss Shrine? I refuse to play meta classes to get to calamity level 7.

If you DEVs insist on making this a grinder, where you spend 100h+ to get the lategame gear, and then invalidate all that fucking work with stuff like boss shrine, were gear matters fuck all, and then don't even make the bosses available to all classes, fuck that noise, seriously. I won't play the content.

730 GS, getting oneshot by something I can't see, cause the boss aoe warnings are delayed, the dmg happens WAY after the animation, hitting me even after I've dodged, and other shit like that - no. I refuse.
