First come first serve has been the golden rule of mmo gaming since its beginnings.  In WoW, players formed lines to defeat rare monsters.   This has been widely regarded as the method most fair to everyone.

In BDO, many players have adopted a different method of conflict resolution, "Duel for spot".  DFS is unforutately not fair to everyone, however.  It favors a particular meta of class imbalance,  gear imbalance, and skill imbalance, or combination thereof, in 1v1 to determine who should be allowed to grind at a particular location.    DFS is commonly pushed by such players as a means of conflict resolution, and of course has become a topic of contention.

In Korea DFS is not even a thing because the players respect the fact someone else was there first.  Imagine waiting in line in WoW to kill a rare mob and a highly geared/skilled player cuts in the front of the line on the basis that they are more deserving of the spot because they are more geared/skilled than the other players- this is essentially what DFS is.  It is a pvp game after all, and enforcing your will through pvp is part of the game as well and if you can do that without unecessary conflict, the better.

First come first serve is a better etiquitte because it is fair to everyone and you don't have to waste time dueling on your loot scrolls/buffs everytime someone comes along and says "DFS" while you are trying to be efficient.  

Is there anyone who can think of something wrong with FCFS ettiquette? Players who might grind in areas where they aren't efficient will eventually regulate themselves.  Instead of asking "DFS?"  try, "How long?"  

Why not adopt FCFS as a more player friendly ettiqute for popular grind spots and make the game a little less elitist?

It's always first come first serve for me, since I never use loot scrolls, I don't mind people come grief because, at the end of the day, they always leave.

DFS is an offer, be guildless and use potato crystals (less than 5m) just in case the person wants to feed you to mobs.

If u are in a guild, join the discord, join back for node war or PVP in a platoon, guild chat is a joke anyway, the only thing u miss out on is a max of 5m daily pay which is chump change compares to able to grind

make sure to have tears on you if u are over 62, exp is super easy to get below 62, just spawn to node

I follow first come first serve. If someone is already in a spot, I find another spot.  If I am there first, bothering no one, I will never leave until I am ready.  If they kill me, i pop rezz pots and chase them down to keep them flagged.  they always leave.
