Corsair Discord Feedback 2023, July Edition

Following the previous post on Jan 27, and subsequent buffs (relevant to the post or not) I am posting another collection of feedback using the same criteria as before.

 

The buffs made awakening corsair feel a lot better, although still rather slow. The lack of equal buffs to succession left this spec severely lacking in most aspects of gameplay.

 

As such, this is the feedback from corsair players of various experience levels on the Corsair Discord:

 

Feedback Begins

 

Lazue the Arrogant One:

Not able to use Sea Stroll (W+E) after Wipe Out (Shift Q) If there was any skill used before Wipe Out 

 

Sometimes after you've made it up from a cc. your character will have their weapons sheathed. and for corsair it goes a step further because you're not able to move at all for 2-3s on top of your weapons being gone 

 

Mounting your horse while opening your map at the same time will cause you to stagger in front of your horse. you are unable to move after you failed to mount and the only way to get out of this is by relogging or using Esc Escape 

 

Capns Orders (Shift F) sometimes just don't even appear. making you deal 0 dmg.

If Cc'd or killed during a skill that consumes Stamina. your regen simply stops 

 

Tide Splitter (A/S/D+F) has gotten a gap lately. similar to how our whales used to have it. the protection isn't as reliable anymore there was no issue with it for a long time 

 

Remove split dmg on Anchor (Shift F) + Flow, Reduce it, increase dmg or make it faster 

 

Give Spare No Quarter (W+Rmb) FG+SA 

 

All the Ebuff adds is a 20% attack speed and improves the mist effect. as you can already get crit rate and + AP from other skills. 

-Add 10% crit dmg

-Increase crit rate to 30%

-Increase AP to 25-30

-Increase hp regen to 200 HP when in the mist

-Attack Speed can remain the same

Reduce or remove the cost of some stamina skills 

 

Change Close Quarter: Charge (Shift E) to KD 

 

Add 30% Ignore grab to our grab

 

Remove down smash on Earth Render (Lmb after certain Skills) 

 

Relocate accuracy buff from Whirling Slash (A/D + RMB) to an awak skill like Close Quarter: Suppress (S+Lmb) 

 

Whale skills need to be faster/make ways to cancel them earlier + reduce dive animation

 

Reduce or equalize CD of Mareca Swing (E) and Smooth Sailing (Shift + A/W/D)

 

Give the mist some better buffs, let it last longer on the ground or make the spread bigger

 

Increase the height you need to fall off of to get falling animation during double jump

 

Remove the rubber banding during some of the mobility skills when trying to dash off a cliff

 

Add a Buff icon to show that Labao has been summoned. He often takes ages to appear next to you. making you press the skill again just for you to send him away. or simply make him appear faster (same for buffs and heal. he's very inconsistent with using those)

 

 Transitions and animations need to be made more smooth/quicker for Example: You can use skedaddle during any skill and it lets you cancel skills early. it simply feels more natural. For example Oceans Melancholy (S+F) when used during awakening you always have to wait until the very last frame of the skills animation. Skills that need to be looked into:

-Sea Mist (W+F) When used in pre awak

-Oceans Melancholy (S+F) When used in awak

-Any Rabam when used in Awakening

-Close Quarters: Charge (Shift E) should activate faster after certain skills like shift rmb.

-Jet Stream and other Whale skills

New Skill: (Super Armor) Melee range explosion blast that is aimed at the ground in front of the Character. with at least Anchor like dmg. If used during air maneuvers you can use it like Sun Shielder (Shift Q) with reduced dmg on ranged and will knock back the character further than with Sun Shielder

 

New Skill: (Super Armor) < Cost: 300 Stamina > Latch onto your whales and Kitesurf a significant distance (like Guardian Juggernaut)

 

Issaotter:

Would be really poggerinos if the MIST added a specific Mist buff that stacked with everything else you already have going on. The eva buff simply gets overwritten by our dash/s+e and by any ally's self buffs. Would make having a corsair in your team way more valuable for eva users tbh

 

Hiki:

Playing my corsair in the arena after playing in Solare with the 5% Atk Speed crystals feels really bad, The class REALLY needs an Atk Speed buff in a skill.

 

Cap'n's Orders: Open Fire! and Cap'n's Orders: Cease Fire

Merge both skills into a single, faster skill with better cancel options and the damage of both combined. It would be a great QoL improvement for awakening both for PvP and PvE.

Close Quarters: Charge

Remove the cc (Bound) from the skill for better combos on corsair, give it protection (Super Armor or Forward Guard).

Spare No Quarter!

Put a +10% Attack Speed for 10 seconds in this skill, it would increase its usefulness and it flows nice after some skills in the kit.

Light 'Em Up

Make this skill so it buffs the damage from all scallywags for some time.

 

Glytch:

Mostly QoL or fluff but I would like the mobility skills to allow you to slide off cliffs and continue the slide when you land (specifically, terrain transitions from Docks to water) and for Mereca Swing to allow you to zip through the air (like onto a big ship). It would fit for the class with a focus on sailing to be able to transition onto/off ships and the water, as well as smooth out weird terrain changes in general. The animations between Mereca swing/Smooth sailing/Riding waves could also be smoothed out to make them flow together better allow us to transition from surface swimming to riding waves on top of the water Allow us to mount big ship ladders while water skating.

 

Cult Mermaid Luna:

We need to return the iframes to the dive animations for Jet Stream and Spiral Soak and before any other classes who don't even know what those skills are step in, let me explain this

 

Jet Stream is the skill where Corsair dives underwater with a roughly 2 second SA animation(there is no damage during this phase) in a stationary position before going under "water" and entering an iframe status(there is also no damage during this phase). This wind us is extremely long and removes a lot of the evasive capabilities this skill has. Most of the time players still use it evasively and choose to cancel out of the damage animation anyways. I'd also like to point out the damage animation is and should remain a SA only and lasts roughly 2 seconds as well(you cannot cancel once it begins, very easy to grapple with a good build).

 

 Spiral Soak is the skill where Corsair jumps into the air and dives underwater for a split second before emerging and throwing 2 whales infront of her. The diving animation lasts roughly 2 seconds in full SA and is completely stationary(there is no damage during this phase). The damage portion of the skill is SA and should remain SA only. This skill is not only very telegraphed and easy to evade but also leaves Corsair very vulnerable if not highly geared. Most of the time players cancel into this skill anyways but returning this iframe would add a lot of utility to smaller scale pvp.

 

 These nerfs and several others came to Corsair at the same patch we received the reworks in and these nerfs were made with pre-reworked classes in mind while people were still figuring things out about her and how to fight her. I believe it's time we return the iframes specifically to the diving wind up animations of these 2 specific skills and I don't believe it would be too OP. The lack of corsairs you see in the wild should reaffirm we need some love and this specific buff would be a very nice quality of life improvement. 

 

Woon:

Ocean’s Allure does a lot of damage and is on quite a low cooldown. I get the general feeling that some players believe it has a different spread or has a different hit location than is intended.

 

Ocean’s Allure only deals damage in front of Corsair, it’s quite a short range. But many skills mislead you to think otherwise, like extending Ocean’s Allure wind particles to be of a bigger spread. Every gun skill as a matter of fact has different wind particle effects after pairing Ocean’s Allure after.

 

 There are also some cases of doing small amounts of damage at long range if you test at low hp mobs like foxes. Perhaps it’s only an aggro hit similar to Lahn’s aggro skill.

 

 Regardless, doesn’t it make more sense for when the harpoon to be fired, that the “pull” or “suction” damage be dealt at where the explosive shot ends? 

 

This skill has always aggravated me from the class’s inception. I feel like we’re getting the necessary damage buffs, but all of a sudden when it comes to cooldowns, we’re supposedly fine.

 

 A buff to this skill both in function and AoE could accordingly tune her skill expression and cooldown issues.

 

Aplaya:

Please make the BSR version of W+E have reduced damage buff or forward guard at least, usually when we use this skill is when we survive a CC with very low HP, and it sucks when u just died right after W+E invincible state and wasted ur BSR. or can make it heal to full HP immediately

 

ChickenSan:

Ocean's pearl and captain orders do no damage when casted near a vertical terrain or object as the skills explode inside it, please fix this I beg. Also whale skills need more verticality, they don't hit people downhill at all, it's crazy.

 

Remove collision from mareca swing and smooth sailing 

 

The way succ corsair is designed heavily incentivizes into playing her full dp. In NA and EU, every succ corsair that does large scale pvp is pretty much running a full dp build. This happens because the class just blows up really fast on her slow SA skills if played in another scenario, but still has some utility when played in full dp (vacuum and block shred). Unfortunately, because of this utility, it's impossible for pa to buff the aspect the class needs the most, her survivability, because it would make the dp version an unkillable monster, much harder to deal with than awake mystic and shai. So what I'm proposing is:

we need to nerf the block break mechanic to somehow scale with ap brackets up to like 300 sheet ap

 

we need to make it so you only lose block in case you're in a FG skill (enemy players always complain about this)

o compensate for such changes, the class gets some self healing abilities to make her actually able to frontline like valks/zerkers/draks

to help her utility role we give some sort of party heal outside of her 100% (and/or some sort of party buff like a speed spell)

 

we improve her small scale pvp by adding FG to wave lash and kd on both hits (not just first hit), we speed up her sword skills animation by about 15% since they're slow as hell

 

close down the gaps on some FG skills that are only on the first part like rising whirlpool and ocean's allure (makes no sense, they move you into the enemy without any protection)

 

With these changes, I'm hoping a non dp corsair can survive long enough to use her whale skills more than once (they're all 12+ seconds cd). Currently in large scale, after these bigger impact skills are down, the succ corsair is low in hp and trying to survive for dear life, and when they're out of cd again she's still low because no heals so will still die when trying to re engage into the fight

 

Nereid Enjoyer:

SA on overflow for some trades and even make it as an option for a pre awk Transition for more combo options, keeping the cc.

Please reduce stamina cost for smooth sailing.

This is some great feedback.  I really hope Corsair gets these buffs, she's such a unique looking and feeling class and I'd love to see her be higher tier.

Been playing this class since its release, and honestly everything you mentioned are really needed to make this class shine. Anything faster than us, let alone a grab we are done. Here is hoping PA hears you.

wait, Corsairs still exist? dang! I though this class died within 1month of it's release. Class basically needs complete rework.

Ive been a succ Corsair player basically since release ive followeds and played the class its the only class in the game that feels good to me but recently i was notifed to the fact pa had been putting fg shred on other classes more and more which left me thinking "what does succ corsair do ?"  the conclusion is that succ corsair needs a new passive in order to function and be balanced like other classes she has all the utility as a frontline yet no sustain massive damage skills but no way to realiably get them off succ corsair is a jack of all trades master of none its barely passible as a class in its own right but it feels so good the kit itself its fine a change of the passive to somthing more support focused and youd be able to buff her damage change the passive to anything else PLEASE then decide if you want her to be utility\dps or utility\tank cause right now shes stuck in the middle and in pvp it doesnt feel great other then when i get my 3 whale skills off
