The new pvp system that was proposed in the recent dev notes proposes that pvp in the form of war decs will no longer exist on normal servers unless both guilds accept the war dec and that karma is family shared. This change will improve the new player experience however it will definitely negatively impact mid game - veteran player's experiences by quite a large margin. Players who are in the process of becoming a long term player and are trying to find open world pvp as well as end game players are going to be significantly worse off, even in pve where griefing will now become an uncontrollable, one sided situation where there is nothing that can be done, and even if you go perma red you are now forced to be red on all characters. This change will destroy any and all current veteran player bases across ALL servers. If the idea is to attract all of the other players from other MMOs by catering endlessly to new players then this game will become just like the other MMOs, a casual login 1 hour per day mmo. While this does boost revenue in the short term, these changes will be detrimental for the game in the long term. Open world pvp, being scarce as it is, is now going to be damn near impossible to find besides the arsha server. And don't get me wrong, yes you can find pvp on the arsha server, however it's becoming more and more apparent that these new player friendly changes are slowly going from being nice, to aggressive, to eventually I fear, oppressive for the pvp player base.
From the free pen accessory, to seasonal, to endless "QoL" changes that made grinding for treasures infinitely easier, treasure events, increasing the silver per hour by over 2000%, etc, while these are catering to new players, they are also significantly positively impacting existing and veteran players. These changes are good, because they take into consideration the entire bdo population. These new proposed changes are specifically targetting a group of players and making the game significantly more difficult to enjoy, these changes, while being in the initial stages of consideration, has already managed to somehow be more oppressive than all of the changes to pvp to date. I sincerely hope that the dev team reconsiders these changes.
Upvote the other thread just started on this topic and put your post there as well.
You do know that one sized war decs can be used to grief people as well, right? An extra large guild can dec a small guild and just dominate them. They never should have been allowed to begin with.
People are acting like griefing with them would be something entirely new.

You're asking the wrong question. What you should be asking is "WHY would a extra large guild dec a smaller one?"
99 times out of 100, its because some nonce in the small guild just wonders into someone's rotation, begins to karma bomb, and does so without worry.
This is a garbage change that's just going to make grinding at highly contested spots even more toxic.

The small guild that I'm in Dec large guilds all the time and we don't get griefed. Switching servers is a thing that many players forget about.
Yep, all this to cater to players that'll be around during the season and never return, or only return for next season maybe.
Meanwhile, even without this change, all the new players are flooding grind zones. The game was not designed for this many players to "share" a grind spot, and if the idea is massive PvP, then the PvP changes and marni realm changes would make no sense. I am unsure at the moment what PA's idea is...Soo much for their "vision" they and all their white knights kept spouting.
If it was before this player wave, I wouldn't much care for the change, but the open world PvP is there exactly for this, and the karma system already screws over anyone with half decent gear, much less people on the 720+ GS. With all these new players, people grinding need to have a way to keep some bare minimum grinding for themselves. I already go to Arsha more than I'd like to be able to grind certain stuff cause it's way too busy nowadays.
PA should either adapt the game without destroying PvP, or, just go full Marni Realm route I suppose. Guess the game was a niche for too long, and now PA is scrambling to please both types of players, and is pleasing no one.
Full grind spots and even on higher gear spots where it was almost always empty, now are starting to become full and impossible to grind cause of the freaking lantern thing, that PA was too shortsighted, as always, to make it an elvia thing and leave normal Oluns and Ash Forest alone on regular servers.
If there is a guild out there that actually gets its fun by picking random small guilds and hitting them upo with a dec that lasts forever until they disband then yea, thats harassment. That kind of behavior is pretty schitzo and probably should be handeled through GMs rather than having the entire war dec system uprooted after 8 years.
What actually happens most of the time is someone in your guild is annoying someone, so that guild decs on you and yea. that means that some of your members are going to get obliterated because of the actions of someone else. You should have a chat with that member about not causing larger stronger guilds to dec them, as it impacts some of your other members
