What you call 'bullshit', I call my personal experience with red players.
And you have made quite the huge assumption by saying I didn't try to do anything about the toxic behaviour I saw, DraconicRoar.

But fine, since you want to play "Let us call out the bullshit' game, which you apparently have done in quite the few posts here, let us do it.

Why non-pvp players have to be huddled up in cities to train horses?
Why are we forced to join huge guilds for protection, if some of us prefer more solitary type of gameplay?
Why do we have to remain level 49 or create alts to farm peacefully? I am personally not into alts, I do all things on my main.

What you call fun doesn't mean has to be fun for me. And vice versa.
If you have read my post carefully, you could have seen I respect PvPers and their playstyle.
What I do not support is toxic behaviour and ruining other players gaming sessions for the sake of seeing them rage. And this is the point where I am happy with the change. Because it will make a player think twice before killing another one for 'fun'.

Did I say all of those changes are good for the game? Do I praise them completely and blindly? No.
What I did was sharing my experience with the current system and hopes for it to improve.

You want to head out there and kill everything. Good for you.
But the moment I mention I want to play in peace and not bother anyone/be bothered, you call it out as bullshit.

So the way I see it, this change makes the people like you froth at their mouth, only because you are not capable of understanding andgetting  into the shoes of people like me. Your PvP playstyle is good. Chasing other players down is enjoyable. And I can bet on everything you are max geared and can stand up for yourself. But not everyone can. And won't be able for a good while.

"Red players are hard to find."
There are literally red player guilds, which encourage their members to stay red (or even worse, it is a requirement to join and remain in them). I am not sure where you spend most of your time, but take a good look around. Outskirts of Heidel or Velia. World Bosses. This is where the bodies pile up the most. The bodies of people who want to train their horses during the day/ overnight only to get killed while they are asleep and have no means to defend themselves, wasting their time.
And please, don't start on "You should train in cities.". We all know it is much better for horse EXP to train in certain spots outside them.

But sure, let the huddling up policy continue, along with the toxicity!

Tell me, where do this idea of being able to stay out of safe area without any danger comes from, to begin with?

I mean, that's the core of the problem, people want to bend rules to their liking, and they are surprised when it does not go the way they want.

Well, that was hell of a ride, reading through the forum for the past few hours...

The main thing with the current decision is... both sides have made fair points.
Those new PvP systems will definitely encourage griefing. There is nothing more to say in that matter. Griefers will be able to grief without any consequences.

But then I read so many comments about PA killing the interractions between players by implementing more Marni hours. And this is the moment when I will ask: What interractions?
I don't know, maybe it is just my personal experience, but throughout all those years, the only positive interractions I've had were with my guilds. The bad ones?
+ I was killed while being AFK on my horse
+ Got killed while peacefully farming cooking materials
+ Got killed by a red player out in the wilds out of the blue and when asked for the reason, I've been told they enjoy doing it. And they are bored as well
+ Was fed to mobs and lost crystals, again, without any reason (and before you ask, I detest griefing and I always respect the rule that is DFS). Again, for the fun and sick pleasure of the player who killed me
+ Been told to get a cancer after I managed to get my first T10
+ Got insulted in at least 25 different ways while trying to promote my guild

And the list could go on and on. This isn't me whining. This is just me providing my experience with 'player interraction' in this game so far. I have played quite the number of games with PvP, but I have never felt threatened by a dot on the map like on BDO. Because everytime I see another player I ask myself: "Will they just pass by or flag and kill me straight away?"

And then I read the comments regarding killing the interractions between us. The problem is, this game breeds very bad behaviour between players. Because that is how this game is designed. You either stomp on others or you get stomped.

Let us face it - BDO has an extremely toxic community. And I am glad J has finally addressed it. At the end of the day, I just want to play the game in peace, at pace I choose to. Marni changes will allow me to do so.
As for the PvP changes, again, this is a double edged sword. It will discourage people from harassing others, but at the same time encourage griefing. It is a hard thing to balance. Is it doable though?
It doesn't change the fact PvP players shouldn't be pushed aside. This is their way of playing this game and I fully understand and respect it. Adding more Arsha servers could definitely scratch that itch of theirs.
As much as I avoid PvP as often as I can, I always try to listen to both sides. And as one person said here on the forum - PvP players are a big part of this community. And not all of them are those who harass others. They also grind, like us lifeskillers and they want to have the right tools to defend their spot against griefers. We cannot put everyone into one bag.
Unfortunately, at the end of the day, it is really hard to cater all the players. Some will be thrilled with those changes, others not.
The real question is - how many of them will throw the towel if they actually come to life?
Both PvPers and non-PvPers are the lifeblood of this game. And if one side decides to quit, BDO will slowly begin to wither and may eventually die. This is the nature of MMORPGs.

Whatever happens, I hope PA will find a middle ground for all of this. Me, as a player, am personally asking for better solutions regarding toxic behaviour, not clipping the wings of PvPers. We all want to continue enjoying this amazing game, in one way or another. Doesn't matter what content we like, as long as it doesn't lead to harassment, shouldn't be taken away from us like that.

And before you call me a Carebear - again, I do not mind PvP as long as it is fair. I respect DFS. If I lose, I get up, say 'good fight' and move on. I accept defeat as long as there is respect maintained between me and the person I fight.
But if I get harassed continously out in the open world while lifeskilling, this is when I say 'enough'.

Healthy PvP should always be encouraged. It is a vital part of this game, just like PvE is. Pure harassment and toxic behaviour? Not so much. And it has lead to plenty of my friends leaving BDO because of those.

So to end my essay here - whatever happens, I hope BDO won't get much of a hit when it comes to number of players after those changes and it will continue to be an enjoyable experience while some of its negative aspects are removed.

All in all, we log on BDO to have fun there. And it should remain that way.
Peace! o/

Thanks for the post. It's nice to see someone be respectful to both sides of the argument.

I'm a pretty new player to BDO, my personal experiences with PvP have been quite limited but even in that time, I have experienced quite a bit of what has been mentioned here. That so much in of itself hasn't affected me too much, but there is a very important point that has been made.

Too many times have I heard how Red Players make players rage quit the game - or leave permanently. Toxic behaviour needs correctional action, and honestly? Standing waiting for Karanda and having a Ninja just go and kill people for no reason isn't great. It serves no purpose, other than that one player's satisfaction at the cost of others.

People don't go red for good reasons in my experience - they do it to harass others. And if new players lose any incentive to stick around, then it becomes a problem for the longevity of the game.

BDO can be overwhelming to get into, and if the people ruining the new player experience aren't held fairly accountable, then it becomes an issue that needs addressing, not at the cost of all PvPers, but there needs to be some form of serious disciplinary action for those who actively seek to make people quit the game.

By no means am I advocating for the removal of PvP - it's an important cornerstone of any good MMO, and players should be able to enjoy PvP in a healthy, fun manner, long as it does not come at the cost of another player's fun or mental health.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts.

Cheers.

Been here since day 1 and I love this game - but hate the PVP! This is a fantastic change and I cannot wait for it to be implemented.
