The vell boss, as it stands is very hard to participate at.
There are currently only 2 spawn times a week:
8pm/20:00 EST on Wednesday | 5pm/17:00 EST on Sundays
If someone works the same shift they'll never be able to go there, with the lack of variations, or time-frame separations.
Likewise, being in the middle of the ocean, also requires you to coordinate to sail there or afk there on your own ship
(as you can't easily "log off" on someone else's ship) - So it'd require extra time before it spawns, for accommodations.

For comparison, Garmoth has multiple events to spawn more frequently (14 spawns a week, as writing this) and is a *lot* more accessible, via afking without worrying about ship despawn, horse riding, running, or jumping through a well to get closer.
Garmoth also has a questline for a guaranteed heart.

The only other way to get a Vell heart is to get lucky with a central market sale, going to vell itself, or a rare chance from a special barter (for the concentrated version).

My solutions:

Add a lot more spawn times with varying offsets - This adds more chances for people that work to go.
Add a guaranteed questline, where you could perform certain sea/ocean activities to obtain.

An on-the-fly thought, but possibly even add a "whirlpool" teleport... It could be within the ocean/water below the magnus itself, where you could sail your ship to different ocean locations (Your ship would have to be empty though, similar to trade restrictions)

I'm hoping this Garmoth change is a test, and I'm hoping it recieves enough positive feedback to implement it elsewhere, like Vell. I like the flexibility, though times can still be tweaked a bit.

It's been over 3 months since I've made this post, and nothing has changed yet on time variations.

For reference on why this needs to be changed:
Garmoth has 2 times every day, offset by almost 15hrs (Except on Sunday); If you work in one of those timeslots, you *should* still make it to the other, unless you go to work around 2-11EST or later, and have a long commute.

Vell only has Wednesday and Sunday, offset by 3hrs from the other's timeslot. 
The only people that can make it, are either off work at that time or don't work at all.

These time slots have stayed the same every week for months. 

A lot of the other bosses have variant offsets, except Garmoth and Vell
For it to be fair for all, it needs to have alternating offsets or a weekly rollover where it's shifted.

As a player who drives to Vell and brings bunch of people, don't make Vell spawns trillion times per week. Can you imagine 3 vells per day? People would do nothing else just drive there and back all day. I'm not going to drive people to Vell 3 times a day 7 days a week. 

You could make these people aware of how Vell alts work and just leave a boat out there to shoot him with them in your platoon.

Raise the price and I'll sell mine, for now they are on tuvala grinding alts to get them to a higher AP bracket.  15b is not worth selling, if the price was 25/30b I would consider it, realistically to get me to sell my extra Vell and Garmoth hearts the price would need to be 40 to 50b in range.

I know I am not the only player to just think that selling Vells and Garmoths are not worth the silver.  

Appreciate you doing that, but you don't *have* to drive people all the time - If that's what yall like to do, you could alternate times with people.

...but the main thing is there are plenty of people that can't make it to Vell period... so we need to try to add ways to accommodate for everyone being able to make it.

The current setup makes it impossible, with the lack of variations, or offsets, so something needs to change.

Honestly, I wouldn't be that adverse to them going up in price, but only if they add more variations to obtain them.

Otherwise, it's just moving the goal post further away from those that can't go to Vell at the current times.

If there's a guaranteed family questline added, like garmoth, or add more time variations ... then it'll give people the option to choose which path to take.

Bump for awareness. With the latest update, they will be adding ocean content, aswell as another Garmoth heart quest.  

The idea to add more timeslots for Vell or a Vell heart questline should still be on the table.

The lottery event will soon end.

For those that haven't gotten a Vell heart, yet, adding an alternative method(s) is even more imperative.

This was currently the only way to obtain a heart for some, aside from buying, and those that didn't get RNG lucky should still have more options, similar to Garmoth.
