Promoting casino-like tactics in this game to progress is still a bad idea. Btw. This post is completely missing the point of the topic.

Now I am going to write something well known to anybody that played the game for at least a month or two:

Cron stones are used to protect your gear from downgrading (weapons and armor) or prevent accessory destruction. But accessories have the % chance to downgrade even with crons used.

Therefore this is a very close resemblance to gambling like in a real casino. By making the crons more expensive this indirectly sais "spend more money to make an X item to a certain enhance level." I know that crons can be bought from an NPC too. But tbh 3mil for a cron stone is just too much to spend. Melting outfits? Heck no! Feels like wasting money. And gambling is usually prone to making an addiction in a bad sense. What the devs did here with the crons is promoting gambling addiction indirectly to progress. Progression is now even harder.

From my perspective those money can go elsewhere for something far more useful, which I can consume.

The sky was never going to fall as a result of the change - but that doesn't mean it was a good change.

Nobody was cronning pen Blackstars to sell en masse even before the change, because if they did, they'd go broke, as it lost money even before the cron change.

The vast majority of pen Blackstars entering the market are from 'free' hammer taps; or hardcore people raw tapping to build pen FG stacks; there's always some 'random noise' of people gambling, but if people do this, it tends to be accessories rather than pen Blackstar. So, making crons for Pen BS more expensive only really affects people trying to self-enhance, and since buying on the market will remain viable and cheaper, the simple advice there is don't self-enhance. If saving 120b seems too painful, you have the option of picking up a duo or tet godr in the meantime (just don't tap it yourself).

I raise Pen BS since it's the only cron-related item that you'd categorise as having a big impact on gameplay, and it's kinda 'the' midgame upgrade people go for.

By comparison, wearing tet FG instead of duo FG isn't going to decide the vast majority of fights; nor is wearing pen debos vs pen 'normal' accuracy or AP accessories (in fact, there's a very good argument 6xaccuracy accs beats using debos for a glass cannon build). Market prices on EU for 340m base accs (disto,dawn,omi,etc.) at tet and pen have never really been based on vendor cron cost, but rawtap cost.  Tet FG and Pen Debos do indeed take a ton of crons - inevitably mostly vendor ones on EU - but by the point you're going for them, you're so far up the gear curve the gameplay impact of having them vs not having them is minimal.

It still sucks as a change, because of the way they implemented it as a huge shift in value in one swoop meaning from one week to the next enhancing a pen debo went from around 300b average to 450b. It would be better if they adjusted crons by minor, frequent, predictable increments (or not at all, I'd be fine with that), if they won't listen to players otherwise and have decided they *have* to increase them over time to keep their P2W model alive. The way they did it is like a huge cut-off date punishing people by hundreds of billions (if not trillions) for what they've yet to enhance in the space of 24 hours.
