Think about it from game design perspective:
You have permanent upgrades - gear
You have permanent swappable playstyle customisation upgrades - lightstones
You have temporary playstyle customisation upgrades - crystals
Crystals have other functions as well. It's a silver sink and a mechanism that allows you to do high-risk high-reward stuff in game while having an element of risk attached to it. Not to mention that price of crystals is balanced around the fact that they break and if they were permanent they should cost x10 at least.
Why would they make it permanent? It messes their entire game design and economy and they would need to introduce similar money sink elsewhere. How about a 100m repair bill per hour of grinding? Your suggestion is extremely shallow.
Grinding something were you can die and don't have an extra girin? Don't use girin. Disconnects suck of course but that's not a good enough reason for then to redesign their game.
Sorry, but if there is anyone who has a shallow suggestion, it's yours. The items that are in question (The crystals) are hard to get, RNG at best, cost BILLIONS of silver and don't sell very often, and your response is "Don't use it". If the crystals were not necessary, especially in higher zones, I would agree more, however, PA is forcing you to use better crystals in order to progress your gear.
Grant it, Pearl Abyss Devs are the worst in the industry when it comes to balancing classes so, your grind could be better or worse based on your class, but when they release new areas that are high end AP/DP, you need better crystals to perform well. Especially with the new area coming out that releases the boots. This isnt an area where you are trying to grind a treasure piece, the boots are literally a progression upgrade.

Think about it like this. 310-320ap might be necessary for some content (costing aroung 500+b mind you), if you don't have it you won't be able to grind it. Similarly a number of spare girins might be necessary to grind that content. If you don't have it, you can't grind it or it won't be optimal.
In both cases there is work you need to do to prepare yourself for the spot by getting more stuff, be it gear or spare crystals. Whats the problem with this design?
The point that you don't get is that they want you to loose around billion every 10 hours or so when grinding high end spots. They also don't want you to mindlessly faceroll high-end content and thats why you have to farm elixers and crystals before going to grind high end spots.
Think about crystals as something in between gear and elixer. You don't always have best elixer and it's fine. However if you want THE best one you go out of your way and grind griffons to get their claws or gather truffles. Same thing with crystals. Making crystals permanent would defeat it's purpose. We already have permanent customisation in a form of lightstones.
One way to solve most problems is if they just add an immunity grace period when loading into the game. Since the game is so eager to toss you into a loading screen.

Every single one of my screenshots in this thread of me dying and losing billions in crystals would be negated if they did this. This would not be ideal but at least would mitigate poor game design. Adding to the initial post, thanks for the idea!

Thank you for this post, it is an ideal example of a 700GS+ player's elitist attitude towards newer players. You want every little bit of hardship between where you are gear/grinding-wise and new players trying to reach your gear/grind zones.
Yuck.
The worst part is that your "points" are flimsy at best and have been shut down numerous times in this thread already. When 1 PEN costs 155-177+ Billion silver and you need 13 PENs, you don't need "more silver sinks" you need less.
You should look at it from the 99% of the player base's perspective, not the 1%...

On contrary, crystals that can break is a GOOD thing for new players because their price is balanced around the fact that they can break i.e. they are cheap for what they give to you. You can buy best crystals for like 10b and it gives you a whopping 70 something ap. Then go grind orcs where your chance to die is literally 0.
What you are suggesting is turn crystals into an unbreakable piece of gear. If that were to happen their price would become prohibitive for new players. I don't mind everything becoming cheaper but things still need to make sense in terms of relative cost. You can't have 75ap costing 10b through crystals and 20ap upgrade pen BS costing 120b.
I sense a new pearl shop item coming.. "crystal protection medallion", protects against 1 broken crystal. $5 each.

If you can revive a broken crystal, I might buy a few just to protect Girin's, everything else can be gotten back in a day.

What you're saying is completely bull****.
Not all upgrades mantain the same cost efficiency compared to stats they provide.
It depends on how hard it is to achieve them: the difference between a PEN accessory and a TET accessory is sometimes just a few points of sheet AP, but the price of the PEN accessory is usually 10x the TET because of how costly it is to practically obtain that item.
There are usually more efficient ways to get those points of AP unless that's the only thing you have left to go for.
You can't just pull out PEN blackstar as an example to be compared with crystals.
Why don't you do the same example comparing the upgrade from TRI blackstar to TET blackstar? let's see what's the difference in stat value/cost.
Also your example is completely unrelatable cause PEN blackstar doesn't just give 20 ap compared to TET, and it's sheet AP (which interfere with your brackets) + monster damage.
You can also have 35 ap through frenzy draught by only paying 16-20 mil per hour.
They're all completely different things that have different prices for different reasons.
You're kinda saying "Well, Pen fallen god only gives 3 DP so it's kinda unfair that other stuff that gives more DP doesn't cost Trillions"

I am comparing best crystals to best gear upgrades. If you want to compare lower tiers feel free to use lower tier crystals.
Now what you are doing is basically saying "I want my elixers to be permanent". I am not sure how to explain just how weird this request is. Things like crystals and elixers are not permanent by design. This is what makes them different from gear pieces or lightstones. What would be the difference between crystals and lightstones if crystals didn't break?
