This needed to be done long time ago.

There is a sudden Power/elecricity failure/loss. Game Crash, Internet Connection loss, and millions of factors that are not in the player controls of why they can may die.

Just of today i have 2x time Power/elecricity failure out of nowhere. Thanks god i was in Black Shrine, otherwise i would have in monster zone i would have been death, and the game would have been trashed.

I'm 100% sure that this feature prevent so many people of trying this game, as there is so many factors that can lead to death.


Just implement Durability System, and the cost should be around 5-50m. per death.

Come on PA.

On contrary, crystals that can break is a GOOD thing for new players because their price is balanced around the fact that they can break i.e. they are cheap for what they give to you. You can buy best crystals for like 10b and it gives you a whopping 70 something ap. Then go grind orcs where your chance to die is literally 0. 

What you are suggesting is turn crystals into an unbreakable piece of gear. If that were to happen their price would become prohibitive for new players. I don't mind everything becoming cheaper but things still need to make sense in terms of relative cost. You can't have 75ap costing 10b through crystals and 20ap upgrade pen BS costing 120b.

The problem is not that you can die to mobs i would agree that if you are dying, because of you, then that's 100% fine and you should be penalized, cause it was your fault. But the problem is where the things are not in your hands, and there is plenty of factors, such as:

Power/Elecricity Failure/loss

Game Crash

PC Crash

Internet Connection Loss

Huge Lags/Spikes/Sluttering/Freezing


I can add Griefing though, but i think the above reason are enough. None of the upper reason would be my fault. And every single one can happen multiple time in even a month time.

Again just of today i had 2 time Power/Elecricity failure/stop in the entire Building.  No one can foresee this. The lucky thing is i was doing Black Shrine bosses.

If i was in the Monster Zone and i died i would have straight up delete the game.


Most of the people that play this game are not no-lifer, and losing a whole day and for some even week of progress because of reasons outside of their control will make them instantly uninstall the game. 
This is probably the main reason why so many people Quit the game or don't want to start the game.


This ain't a fair system, it's not a challenging in any way, and the only thing that leads to is a huge annoyance and makes you want to break something or insta delete the game.

I'm currently refusing to play the game(i will log just for fishing/rewards), until they implement this feature. If they decide to not i will just Quit the game.

Again i'm all for content being challenging and dying in a spots where you are not supposed to be, or being lazy/not good enough/etc is fine, but Crystal loss is not the way, as the factors i explain above are all out of your control as a player.

Give Crystals durability and make them cost 5-50m, and add that to Value Pack. This is the best way to sell more VP, and respect your playerbase time and effort they put into the game.

Hah, yesterday I had another lag spike at giants, who are normally unable to drop me below 90 % HP, and when the mobs started moving again, I was below 10 % already (the lag spike happened when my back was towards a new full group). If I lost another Girin, I would have to ask for another restore (2/2) and I would quit grinding as well. Maybe the thrill waiting for 5 seconds when the mobs start moving again to see whether you end up dead and which crystals you lose is what is supposed to keep us going. Thug life!

The counterarguments in this thread I read are mostly from people worried about crystal market crash (which did not happen on console). Since people already have minuscule income from crystals compared to anything else, I imagine only hoarders/speculants opposing the change. Another opposition was from overgeared veterans afraid that removing crystal break would allow people to use higher level spots and that they would have more competition (which is self-serving and not beneficial for the game in any way).

Since the discussion goes for a long time already and the topic has been covered from diverse angles, it would be nice to have some response from PA now.

It will ruin the game. Stop Casualising this game.
Make it just an event or reduce the % of losing crystals but not 100%.

  • More ways to obtain crystals will be added.
  • PA feels that if they made crystals unbreakable then it will cause too many other changes.
  • Instead they are trying to make rare drop grinding better and introducing more ways to obtain crystals.
  • Crystal inventory will continue to be worked on as well.j

Translation. They are too damn lazy to fix their game.

This is not so much a slap in the face as a kick in the gut.

They truly do not give a rat's ass about their non-elite player base. I'm glad I discovered this before buying their pearl deal on the P2W store. No more money from me PA until you fix this issue.

That basically confirms it. Dropping this game until devs come to their senses. Was planning on picking up the new pearl pack but this news just saved me $60. See you guys on a MMO where the devs dont have an insane amount of hubris.

What is the most baffling to me is that for the first time, Korea experienced what is normal desync, lag, and disconnects the rest of us are complaining about here in this thread when they held that Black Desert Online Asia Node War Championship.

The Koreans should be forced to grind with that kind of ping for 3 months. That way in 4 months we will have permanent crystals.

Tired of never getting to use powerful crystals against powerful endgame content.

Using a cheap crystal set doesn't let you grind any of those areas efficiently either and the income or drops will never be close to worth the risk of setting yourself back hours upon upons of income for a death.

Why even bother making endgame content that nobody will bother with because the risk makes it not even worth attempting unless you are hardcap and have nothing else to do.

- Add a level of crystal protection via an Elixir, interactable Black Spirit buff, a buff you can buy with a Tent, NPC interaction, or even the Value Pack.

There are a wide variety of solutions that could make this content accessible and give players reasons to attempt these challenges, simply adding more ways to get crystals or a .001% better chance to get some drop solves nothing. Incompetence and lack of creativity on behalf of the devs shouldn't result in punishment of the playerbase.
