Can the developers address the poor dynamic range implementation in the game now that there have been so many new players?

Currently as it stands the game has terrible dynamic range implementation in the remasteredd settings of the game.

Here's a quick summary of what dynamic range is: a measurement of the amount of contrast that in this case the in-game implementation of the DR can accurately capture at once.

How do you calculate the dynamic range of a scene? you take the brightest and the darkest part of a scene and then measure the difference between them.

If the implementation of dynamic range is lower than the dynamic range of a scene then some information will be lost in the process and you will see either pure blacks or pure whites for the shadows and highlights respectively.

As the name implies the range is dynamic becase it can be adjusted based on your needs to bring detail to either the highlights or the shadows of a scene, you adjust it by increasing or limiting the amount of light into the scene until you receive a satisfactory result, chosing to have more details in one will lose you the equivalent amount of detail in the other and the only way to have satisfactory detail in both the highlights and shadows is to have a better implementation of dynamic range, since it's not just a camera you cannot buy a new one, as such you need to adjust it and implement it better than it currently is in-game.

A human eye has very high dynamic range and as such when a picture is unusually dark or bright it's very noticeable and unrealistic

There are many games that have figured out how to properly do dynamic range in their games with dynamic lightining so why don't the BDO devs figure it out as well?

Looking at the sun should not look like it does in the attached picture in any situation.

Please make a noise when it comes to this and we will have a better game should they decide to hear us.

No, I kind of like it the way it is. It's actually more realistic.  Rough around the edges at times, sure. But in attempting to simulate biological dynamic range, you get a flattening instead.  You can get that by choosing different graphics settings.

I'm sorry but you don't know what you're talking about if you can say "it's more realistic" then "in attempting to simulate biological dynamic range, you get a flattening instead"

It's not realistic as it's currently is and it results in what is called peaking in photography/cinematorgraphy.

As stated BDO isn't the first game to use dynamic lighting and range and it's probably the worst offender when it comes to implementation games as old as 2012 have it and maybe even older but I'd need to double check for that.

A more recent example is the plague tale requiem game which has probably the best DR implementation in a modern title but that's beside the point I am making, what matters is that BDO has a horrendous implementation and actively hurts it's visual appeal at the end of the day.

I just did a fight in a cave where you couldn't see ANYTHING because it's pitch black. I like ambience but there's a difference between that and getting a pitch black screen where the mobs are only visible via their red attack glows. It sounds cool but it actually looks terrible and feels terrible to play.

Darkness: You can adjust your graphics settings to relieve a lot of that.  You can also get a lighting source - Atanis Firefly, or a fairy skill.
