Hey,
Just wanted to give some feedback on playing PVP as a oceanic player. BDO is a great game but unfortunately playing from AUS\NZ has to play on the NA servers by default due to publishing rights and pvp experience is just really rough and makes playing near impossible.
Just wanted to give some feedback and say it would be cool if you had a couple of servers in BDO for australian\NZ players just a couple of normal servers in the server list on the NA client would be great. We have New World, World of warcraft both with oceanic support and it would be great if we could play with less than 250 ping.
It definitely would be nice to have a server group hosted in Australia but I think there are too many factors that developers need to account for that go against such a venture.
• It will be costly
• It will most likely operate at a loss
• It will pose many technical challenges for the developers
I don't think adding Oceanic servers will increase the profits of Pearl Abyss, rather the opposite. The game simply isn't popular enough. It took over 10 years before Square Enix opened up servers in Australia for Final Fantasy XIV. World of Warcraft also took about 10 years before servers in Australia were added.
I'm sure latency is no fun and I agree with Kuree, that will likely be the official response at some point. But BDO is 7 years old so maybe in 3 years it will happen? :)
For now, have you tried a specialized gaming VPN like exitlag? Have you optimized as much as you could on your end to lower the ping? I know there's only so much that can be done but also VPNs are an additional layer to go through which could add to the latency but some people vouch for exitlag because it sends I think smaller packets through different servers to reach you so in the end it should in theory be faster.

A GPN works by adjusting the traffic flow in a specific direction , minimizing hops an making the data go through a specific route which in turn gives lower latency if you already have a good ISP it means nothing honestly
