So I was looking into this a bit, and I think there is room for something new. Right now the dated transport system just cannot keep up with moving trade crates. Especially once you start getting those triple pack workers.

At first, I was thinking of using a volante to fly over to nampo, grab some rates at nampo bring those back, repeat. However I noticed how many crates you can actually carry on a maxed out volante. I saw that an advanced would carry ~25% more weight,  but was ~11% slower... so overall I think advanced would be faster.... but even if you had a carrack with +10 blue gear AND the ebenruth's nol... its still slower than... wait for it.... yup, an epheria cog. how is this still a thing??

I then went into the korean streams and started asking around if that new panokseon ship could hold a mount like a cog can... and as expected they told me that no, you cannot do that. I did test on the one sitting in the world and it did work, but people told me that its just an object and it wont work that way once we start to get them.

SO......

Im wanting a new ship.... one that can safely hold at least 7150 trade crates, and not do some weird old dated tech of loading a mount onto a epheria cog ( and possibly having it fall off ) 

there maybe some other tweaks that can come with a new boat update. maybe this new boat could be crafted on the back hidden part of nampo island?

nampo island also has a lack of amount of crates you can craft there.. 3 crop, 2 mushie and 1 fish? new area on the island can have a couple more crate workshops added?

Maybe, If old carracks and new boat maybe had a flat weight increase just added in, it would maybe help with bartering gold per hour, which I hear is pretty bad in todays game? I dunno...

OR how about something like... adding in trade mastery to the game finally? more mastery = more transport wagons? get like +1 transport wagon at 500/1000/1500/2000 mastery?

i have like 100k crates at this point, i will keep making them cuz too lazy selling basic mats and will probably never turn them. At this point i cant imagine torturing myself like that

I know this cuts into LT, but a maxed out Advance with +10 Blue Gear, with 10 Innocent Sailors is faster than a Cog, without a Nol, assuming you have at least Skilled 10 Sailing. I'm certain even with +10 Green Gear + a few sailors you're faster than a Cog, but I haven't stepped foot on a Cog since I got a Frigate so I don't know if Sailing Mastery affects Cogs stats and I'm not spending silver to try.

I don't disagree that a dedicated Trading ship is a bad idea, but most would just use an Advance/Balance for that purpose alongside Trade Item Transport. Valencia to Nampo takes 5 hours ~, yeah, it's slow, but it costs like 5 million for a full load and you don't have to do anything but click.

And to your other point of increasing silver from trade profits, yeah, technically its bad, but its no worse than people grinding at Orcs and selling 600-800m+ in trash every hour. I kinda laugh when people complain about lifeskillers "injecting silver" into the game when people are making that much silver in trash/hr grinding.

oh no... im not saying the boat speed is faster, obviously a carrack can be faster...

what im saying is moving the crates from point A to point B is faster.

A cog can hold a horse with 7150 30weight crates thats a total of 214,500+ weight. and a one way trip would take what, 15-20 minutes?

A decked out advanced lets say could carry 30k weight, crates also at 30weight, thats only 1000.... and youll have to bring it back and forth for multiple trips.

the cog is far far superior. I think you misunderstood. you see  what I mean now?

you could maybe  code in 2 different weights for ships.

keep the current weight if thats what you want, and put it in a new code catagory of barter items and have barter weight.

then, code in a new catagory called trade weight, and bump that to ~215k. and it would hold trade crates, maybe advanced would hold a bit more? idk... seems like a kind of easy fix

Stacking anything but TRASH crates onto a Cog is too risky.  ...eventually, everyone loses focus while crossing margoria either from fatigue of minmaxxing all day long in everything else they do, or just from sailing itself becoming too routine.  A Cog doesn't leave any room for error.  So in that sense... these things are still balanced.   MAKE BETTER CRATES is the solution to this problem.  

As for the economy in general... it's back to Trading and Bartering being the low man on the totem pole for the same reason PA always ruins the respective profitability of anything Lifeskill related that isn't cooking:   ...they just can't stop themselves from adding new shiny carrots to Mob-Grinding every couple months.  It's obvious that the lead devs in this circle jerk of a Dynasty-Warriors clone only want to grind Mobs with bad A.I.  ...so they just keep adding more and more gear score and more and more Dragon chasing for that purpose.  It's an addiction and they need to "be forced into" seeking professional help

There is a HUGE risk in transporting with a Cog. I've had mini DC's in the ocean so often that I would never risk doing something like that, as Illrep also said. Far far superior is a stretch. You can't defend yourself against players or sea monsters and you leave yourself to the whim of our server stability (lol).
