Comments/Suggestion : Improve Carracks to have mortar cannons that can target freely at 360° around your ship with a certain range, and small side cannons that automatically fire at the enemy currently targeted. Here an example how it can look:

Also reduce the cannon reload time and increase the projectile speed of cannonballs of carracks to make sea combat more engageing.
Instant damage would just let 3 pirates group up and sink anyone instantly. You wouldn't even know you're under attack and you'd be sunk. Sea monsters would also have to respawn almost as fast as land mobs to keep up with any rotation. Also people might start making money with sea content, and we all know that's not allowed anymore.

Wouldn't this be actually a good thing. You can be dangerous as a group of pirates. And if this happens certainly there will be naval groups who go track these pirate goups down and fight them. Thats some good ocean PvP
What would be nice, along with these suggestions, would be if being sunk was less punishing for both parties. That may make sea content too enjoyable, and they can't monetize it enough I suppose.

The opposite of what happens for ages. There never was and never will be good ocean pvp. Even when sailboats, clic target and camlock were already gamebreaker. Try sea of thieves, or wait for skull and bones.
Here we get bricks that turn like handspinners and take no damage because they are not where you see them.
Your idea is good, but... to have faster shooting, they must reduce the damage. And for angle... well, you have sailors for that.
did you ever fight a ship at crocs? fights last 30secs. the ones you see fighting for 15min going in circles, shooting randomly hoping to guess the trajectory of the ship and aiming down to get canonballs to travel faster, are a joke. You rush, you pew pew, and you or they sink. Or one swaps.
Ship fights are not fun because fight is not fair due to many exploits or bugs. And fighting mechanics suck too.

arsha has no penalties. no karma loss, no sailor sick.
And even outside of arsha, the naval fame system is only a pain for barterers or people that don't really know what they are doing.
you can't get sunk unless you allow it (or be extrêmely unlucky with the game bugs against you while you fight a player).

Interesting, did not know sailors don't get sick on Arsha so thanks for that little tidbit of info.
And yes to the bug part, mostly teleporting from people with Nol's. Ruins the enjoyment
I wish whole naval content in bdo was as polished as in AC. Game is over a decade old and had a lot of time for improvements but controls and animations are still so clunky and rigid.
