It took me 5 years for 353dp and 296ap with kurum and i play each day 2-3hours aktive, i also got my pens on my own and yes also my pen tungrad belt, u can play how ever u want without pay big money
I playes a lot of mmos befor and there always was a system wehre u had a big advantage in payment system, bdos only p2w is the vp.

People will bitch about anything.
The game is fun to the point that millions of people play it regularly across the world. It's cheap enough to buy 'n just give it a try for yourself. If you enjoy what you see to start and think it'd be worth your time I recommend investing lets say $50 - $60 as if it were a triple AAA title and getting your character some bonus inventory weight 'n maids.
When I pre ordered originally the game cost $25-50 to start with in the first place and its since been reduced to $5 and often you can pick up copies for free. MMO's are meant for you to invest a lot of time into and if you're putting 100's of hours into BDO there really shouldn't be any issues investing a little bit more than $5 to the game. Staff is updating every week, all updates 'n expasions have always been free and there's a marketplace where you can put up orders for almost everything in the Pearl Shop.
Sure there are Whales that spend way more on outfits n such for crons, silver etc... but that has little to no affect on the other 99% of the playerbase that's grinding just like everyone else...
Investing a few extra bucks into the game will certainly help your experience but you're by no means at the mercy of the Pearl Shop and/or it's small Whale community that buy into it. There's plenty of fun to be had whether you're spending $5 or 50k.
