Suggestion/Comments:
Recently, I've decided to do LOML on some of my old characters. Choosing not to spend money, I tried out ferries in BDO and found a few issues. Firstly, there is no way in the game to find out where a ferry is or where they go based on the quest info for the LOML quest chain. It told me I could take the ferry but not where. I went to the wharf master in Velia, and nothing about any ferry or my ability to see them on the map with transportation enabled. As a new player, this would be a bit of a necessity. I had to go off the game and look up old Reddit posts for more information. New players won't do this. Please update all warf masters to be able to tell players where the nearest ferry is based on their requested destination so they can auto-path. Ferry speed is outdated. They're slow and not a lot of fun for people riding. Please consider speeding them up and reducing their docked time slightly. You may add a ferry ship where needed to keep dock times down to about 60s. The pathing time should also be short enough that players could sit through it or add some timer or notification in chat dialogue or nearby statement from the NPC driving the boat who says how long til the destination is reached so new players know how they can fish, afk, go restroom or w/e. One game that gets this right seems to be Maplestory. They have a ferry system with plenty of info, so players know what to expect. I'm requesting minor improvements since riding boats can be fun if the inconveniences are resolved. I wrote this in the time it took to get from Olvia  Ferry Docks to Lema Island Ferry Docks.

Chadswick Guild Wharf Manager: No info on Ferries at Olvia Ferry Docks.
(I have no idea that the Ferry exists for Lema Island unless searched out of game or how long it takes until it arrives)

Hemsworth Guild Wharf Manager: No info on Ferries at Lema Island Ferry Docks.
(I have no idea that the Ferry exists for Oquilla Eye Island unless searched out of the game or how long it takes until it arrives)

Crio: Hemsworth Guild Wharf Manager: No info on Ferries to Iliya Island Ferry Docks. Also not a lot of info that this is where you have to go to board a boat for LoML.

You can also take a griffon from Velia and a ship from Velia. I had to look it up out of the game to find out...
Lema Island, despite being closer to Oquilla's Eye has no ferry to Oquilla's Eye. O.o (Woops, so I had to map to Iliya Island. Newer players could have been stuck for an annoying time.)
It took me 2hrs to make it to the LOML using boat ferries. Part of the reason it took so long was my fault with going to Olvia docks, some was garm spawning, and a lot was arriving to OE 60s after the LOML boat left which added 1hr. This is not fun or good.

There should definitely be better information on which ferries go where, but if you enable the transportation filter on your world map, you can see approximately where each ferry is on the map.

In ESO, if you hover over the Navigators on the map, it tells you where each of them goes (transport there is instant, so travel time does not apply)

The Olvia-Lema ferry route was what was left after the Lema-Port Ratt route was retired in preparation for LoML.  There was never an Oquilla's Eye ferry before.  Personally, I would have preferred that the Lema-Ratt route had been reestablished to Moodle.

The Velia-Iliya ferry (and Griffon) have been around a long time.  The ferry leaving from the old Velia dock by the storage keeper is hard to miss.  The sign there should probably mention the ferry.

If you afk fish off the end of the dock there sometimes you will get picked up by the ferry without interrupting your fishing.

At Iliya, the NPCs at the end of the ferry dock tell you which is which (Velia or Oquilla's Eye).  Again, personally, I think that Oquilla's Eye should not be on the ferry system at all.  In game lore it's the new land of opportunity etc. and having a ferry that goes there breaks with that adventurous aspect and makes it routine.

The ferry speeds, while slow, are fine.  And so are the dock times, which mitigate the issues (a little) with making timely connections.  And the connections being missed is just part of it.  It takes time to get to a far off land.  Unless you buy/build a ship of your own, or pay for magic.

The better route was Olvia-Lema-Ratt: one connection.  But they had to put the old Ratt NPCs somewhere, and that ended up being Oquilla's Eye, and they wanted to still provide ferry access to them, so here we are.  They made kind of a mess of things when they deleted Ratt.

The time was still 45 minutes one-way Lema-Ratt. Total time from mainland with average wait times is about the same now as it was before.  But there used to be an outgoing shortcut: as soon as you entered the ocean north of Lema (edit: effectively, a bit north of Oquilla's Eye), you could map to Ratt.  Had to take the long way back though.

Spend your ferry time fishing (which is good) or processing. And/or, like you said, go do something else for a bit.

As for in-game ferry information: how do we know where anything is in this game? Maps and roads, once discovered.  A road leading into nothingness is a clue that there may be more.  I don't think wharf managers is the way to go for that, or signs for that matter.  Just do like with the rest of the game: mark ferry routes on the discovered portions of the map.  Which, as someone already mentioned, they sort of already are, just look for the boats.

The balloon system is a thing with similar issues (without the map visuals).  Maybe do something like that but for ferries: have them appear as part of other quest lines. And have actual ferry terminals?  And maybe have a small fare to pay.
