A lot of people have been talking about this switch recently, which most people say Razer Synapse will cause them to be banned if it's running. Same with macro RGB on keyboards? I need a bit more clarification on this cause I have Razer Synapse for a headset I got a year ago. Never really used it, but it is on my computer.
Unsure why they're deciding to bring back Xigncode despite it having a notoriously poor track record of false positives, ineffectiveness at detecting cheats and poor game performance.
Xigncode also has very questionable behaviour on data collection. I learned from others who are more knowledgeable one the matter that Xigncode collects the digital signatures from any and all software that was used in the past 48 hours and sends them to the server. There were also rumours of it potentially collecting sensitive data or even keylogging. However, these claims are unconfirmed, thought I wouldn't doubt it either.
On another note, I am curious as to whether Xigncode is compliant with EU's data privacy laws. It is an overly invasive anti-cheat that runs in the background even when the game that utilises it is closed.
I just read this on Black Desert Foundry.
This a global lab patch note annoucement https://www.blackdesertfoundry.com/global-lab-updates-1st-december-2023/
System Changes
- The security module of the Black Desert Research Institute has been changed to XIGNCODE.
- The support policy of the existing security module has been changed, and the module has been changed to enable faster security response to unauthorized programs.
- The security module will be updated on the official server after stability verification, and advance notice will be provided later.
- Server optimization work has been carried out.
- Work has been done to alleviate the phenomenon of intermittent game shutdowns
I could potentialy answer to question of Xigncode implementation very shortly. Razer Synapse is an other question.
Need an AI-based anti-cheat system instead of Xigncode. In my opinion, implementing Xigncode has two positives for PA.
A) It will convince quite a few players to quit BDO, meaning fewer people on the servers. If PA can justify shutting down the game, then relaunch it as Crimson Desert, they will be able to double dip.
B) The more likely scenario is that Xigncode is extremely cheap compared to the current one. All in all, this is a decision that came from the top and not the devs.
Welcome to the prizes of locus capitalism. I hope you all enjoy your stay as inflation rises another 500% while the nobles continue to make even greater profits. At the cost of everything. In the end, we all surely lose as the nobles reset civilization to continue the cycle.
Just so we're tracking!
