Sadly there seems to be no definitive information on what they will do about this, and I keep seeing conflicting statements that people are saying are true everywhere.

We need more clarity from PA ASAP.

All they have to do is raise Guru higher than 50 levels & merge all lifeskill exp into one (as if you used a life transfer coupon or something) so no progress is lost so everyone is happy. This way everyone who has worked on lifeskills on alts will not loose out on their progress & everyone who only lifeskills one one char will benifit from it being family wide. Seems logical to me!

The rumour about them only going with the highest lvl lifeskill on an account and straight up deleting the rest however, is very concerning. However, I have yet to find any concrete information from an official source saying this is the case? If anyone can prove me wrong, please link it!

The most extensive summary of the Ball I can find is on Garmoth and the wording for family-based lifeskills is exactly "They are also looking to merge Life Skill levels on a Family Basis to be shared across characters. They are also planning to add further levels to Life skills, going past the current Guru 50 for more progression." I think using the word "merge" is associted with additive function as "put together". However, a Garmoth representative stated on Reddit we cannot be definitely sure yet.

Honestly, I doubt they would be so dumb not to take the potential loss of progess in account when designing the change.

On one hand...

Ideally they'd make a new family based master level for each lifeskill that acted as a sum of each character's exp earnings.  Your new characters or alts would still have their personal levels and each would appropriately rise as you earn exp except your mastery/loot/effects/ranking would be determined by the combined master, family level.    Nothing changes for the worse, fame is effectively untouched, everyone benefits from the buffs.  Win-win.

Thats a great idea!

Them merging lifeskills with adding all progress together while increasing the cap - fine.

Them going with the highest lvl lifeskill on an account and straight up deleting the rest - this is just absurd and I doubt they would do this.

However, I very much understand the point of the lifeskillers and lifeskill guilds that chose to play the game by increasing family lifeskill fame by working it on alts and earn guild points. What happens here is that:

1. people have chosen to play the game in a certain way and have established a steady community and strong progressing guild(s) around this gameplay

2. PA removes this game feature completely

Not good.

I bet PA didn't take into account these lifeskilling guilds and how they play. I bet they have no idea such guilds /playstyles even exist.

There should be a solution.

Eh, this is online game, so no one promising you this or that thing will be forever stuck. Changes happen often. If you can't use to stuffs get changed, maybe that's not the genre for you.

This is the perfect change, and it should have happen long time ago. I get why some people are mad, but tons of people are happy of it.

This is a game after all, not a chore, not a full time job as well.

It's not about change (the raw change - family wide life skills - itself is appreciated by everybody I guess), it's about (maybe) life skill achievements for nothing (when they do not sum up all life skill levels of a family, but just let the highest count).

We don't know anything and there in lies the problem.

They decided they were going to make a major change to a core section of the that could potentially effect 1000s of players significantly and told us nothing except that they're going to try to have it done by June and they'll do something about the G50 level cap.

Everything else has been speculation, misinformation or straight up fabrication.  Queue 6+ months of people operating in an information vacuum,  worrying and freaking out, and rightfully so.

Problem is, if no one offers concerns to this, they'll go the easy way, just take the highest score, use it, and nullify so many' players' hard work.

Since we're doing this, why not have family wide exp?  Why not have just one character that can morph into other characters at will?

Over-simplfication ruins immersion, and it's too bad they have to do this to this game.  Everything uniqae and special that made this world come to life is being simplified out of existance.  They should just creat exp draughts that can be purchased by loyalties or something.  Making all characters the same makes them lose their identity.  It's no longer instrinsic to them.  Im proud of thee fact that some of my chracters are warriors and other lifers.  Adds uniqueness and spice to the game.  If everyone's them same......., welcome to the machine, comrade.
