Ferricas despawn too quick after killing them

I used to be able to kill then tan 2 packs of ferricas/ferinas at Navern at a time. Now I can't even get through tanning 1 pack and they start despawning. Why was this changed? This makes gathering for the Navern pity pieces a lot harder..
