Family Name: Difficult

Region (NA/EU): NA

Suggestions/Comments:
For too long guild roles have been pigeon-holed onto us, the player base, with us to deal with the fallout of issues that follow. While I like the idea of Advisor, Staff and Secretary, it was an unnecessary addition to the game. What truly is needed is more control, as a guild leader, over what each of the roles can and cannot do. In the beginning of BDO, it was fine. There wasn't a whole lot of stuff you could store and/or use in the storage, plus on top of that the game was new to most people, so buffs being limited access was fine. BDO has changed a lot since then. Improved in a lot of ways, but the players have also improved their ways of griefing.

A few years back, I experienced said griefing in my guild. Items taken from guild storage and told by the GM's that they do not mingle in inter-guild politics or problems. A problem exists and stems from this. Though it doesn't happen much, it still does happen. This is just one example of a problem that could easily be solved by customized roles. I know for a fact that every guild leader out there worth their weight in gold, regardless of region, would be okay with customized roles. Its solely a QoL change, plus on top of that it would at least give reason to GM's not helping any guild leader recover lost items stolen from their guild storage. While I feel they should be helping us, the fact remains that they don't, especially when the problem itself is out of the leaders control.

Anyone can go into a guild, loot the storage, gquit and delete the items - rendering the pilfered guild harmed in one way or another. I know I've talked a lot about guild storage related topics, but this also stems further for control over buff usage.

Suggestion for fix: The obvious customization of roles would be the fix. The way it could be implemented is by adding various settings that can be set per role. This type of guild management control is available in most mmo's; new and old. While BDO isn't like most mmo's, it is still an mmo and there are some practices that happen in other mmo's that just make sense and work. Sometimes the wheel doesn't need to be re-invented to make things good.

Firstly, default settings should be as they are now. All roles should have options to turn on or off. This would include depositing of materials, withdrawal of materials and usage of buffs. It should stem further too with member management, which would entail: Contract Renewal, Allowances, Payouts, Banishing Members and editing lower ranked members position within the guild. It should also include who can and cannot take out guild mounts. As a final thing, renaming the roles would be neat, but completely unnecessary. Just something that would be cool to see and I know some people that would love to rename Officer or Member to something else.

What customized roles would allow within the guild is more controll over the guild and its items. This would create a scapegoat for GM's to fall back on rather than "Sorry, can't help you", but it would also allow for Guilds to properly protect their items and fully prevent future problems. It would allow for safe recruiting rather than taking a gamble with every new member that joins. This should all be done on a role-per-role set-up, instead of adding new, non-customizable roles to fill a missing niche role that PA thinks we need. What we leaders truly need is true control.

In addition to this idea, perhaps implementing a guild provisions page that tracks all resources used for guild crafting (sea monster parts, pledges, drill materials, etc.) Items gathered by guild members or war heroes would automatically be deposited into the guild provisions page without the need for an item to be in the inventory.

From there, guild crafting options can be clicked on in the crafting UI to automatically consume the supplies on the provisions page. (permissions could be added for this process).

Consumable items purchasable from the guild shop or looted during khan (monsterbane cannons/cannonballs/flame traps, etc.) would still be items that go to the players inventory, and are already controlled via the guild allowences set by higher guild ranks. And these items can be stored in the current guild storage. (The GM would be able to set permissions for these items as well)

This would solve guild resource thieving/griefing and permissions issues. as well as the issues of war heroes not being able to sell/contribute items or merc out while in posession of guild items. It also keeps intact nodewar purchases and guild boss equipment purchases.

Even the ability to dictate which items can be widthdrawn by which roles would be useful

My guild got hit by exactly one thief ever, but it's still annoying that the General guild members still have access to storage.
The response to most tickets about this usually go like "Please do a better job vetting players before inviting them into your guild in the future." But that doesn't solve the problem, it just shirks the duty.

Additionally, why can Staff promote a member to Officer, but can not renew an Officer's contract?

This Custom Guild Roles idea is great, and I hope it gets implemented.

That's the point of having control over who can withdraw and deposit items. By having those two options seperate and togglable, you can dictate members from not being able to withdraw items and officers or other roles from being able to withdraw items.

My advisor wants to add that they should add an additional log for who contributes what to the guild funds for payouts, but I think they should just add that to the existing log and update that if they wanna go that route. Personally Idc who contributes what for that section, but I wouldn't be against further information for that kind of thing.

Single handedly 1 of the best ideas to ever hit the forums about Guild changes.

This is an excellent idea and should have been a day-1 implementation.

They really need to revamp guild management. One of the issues I run across is I can't promote or demote people in ranks if they are under protection. You have to remove their protections, do your management, then reapply the protection. It doesn't make sense.
