"Games that use dangerous rootkits as a form of anti-hack. They are essentially malware/spyware and are a serious security threat. Even if they don't directly do harm, they leave a backdoor for malicious software. "

Hello all!

https://www.naeu.playblackdesert.com/en-US/News/Detail?groupContentNo=6458&countryType=en-US

I don't know details about this anti cheats, but I understood that it has access to personal data from the PC. I didn't understand much from their post.

Can someone give me more details?

Do you agree with this change?

I'll be fair, cba about it. And even if it does, trust me, your datas have been already collected by many other softwares on your PC.

It's a third party software running the moment you launch BDO in order to prevent any other third party software that can affect BDO to exploit the game.
Once you close the game, it's gone.

Many games are using anti-cheats, I guess you never noticed it because you never read general conditions or check processus in task manager.

Do I agree with it ? Since I accepted all PA conditions about the game, yes I agreed. You did the same.

As long as it does not interfere with the law, for example: EU
https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-topic/data-protection/eu-data-protection-rules_en

question: what kind of data does it collect?
Is there a list somewhere?

As a cybersecurity engineer with 10 years experience in the domain I can state the fact that what you said is not true. Remove your tin foil hat, person that says 5G kills birds when they get near the antenna. Either start thinking like a decent human being or try to evolve just like pokemons! No excuses like "I don't know how this works, that is why I posted" because you "UNDERSTOOD" .  Have a nice life in your cretacic cave, see you when u reach the present!  For every other person out there reading this 90% of any game anticheats have kernel level access, soon all of them will have. Kernel level access means more access even than your operating system has. Cheers! Don't listen to tinfoil hat dudes living under a rock.

  1. XIGNCODE is a useless tool which doesn't really prevent cheating, often wastes too much CPU power, sends private information (which is against the laws of many western countries, including USA btw.) and feels like the reason for most of the crashes. You should be more concerned that they log all files and paths that you modified in the last ~48 hours and all executables with prefetch files into their logs." There's also a number of other intrusive things it does like monitoring text your type while the game is running Xigncode is pretty much an insane key logger, that records folders that are open, files, memory, dll's, processes, connected hardware, and more, it is all store on the Welbia servers. If they allow this it violates the GDPR since the date need to be store in an EU country afaik. Also people got banned left and right for having RGB memory, Razer's mouse software, Steelseries headset software, and the list goes on and on and on. Having a folder open with mods and edit tools for fallout or skyrim while afking in bdo, that is a violation. (source: forum/reddit).
    Is true?
Are there players from other games that have this anti-cheat that have experienced this? or do you have information related to this aspect?

Correct but its more intrusive... Xigncode we already had version 3 idk why PA acting like its not the same xigncode lmao

From what i can remember it was actually meant to detect VPNs not actually be a anti cheat by how it was built. Thats what i remember at least.

The thing is it never looked at PIDs originally so it wasnt detecting what was actually running , but instead was scanning what was on the system an what was clicked on an doing scans on said files(was even checking files a program should never be near windows registry for the actual OS)was sending the information back to xigncode who then forwarded any unusual activity to the implementer or fully stopped the program for  said device.

Where as most anti cheats look at process identifications and check other information but not actually log key inputs an so-on where as xigncode some people reverse engineered it (hence you can find the ways to by pass it and found above information)  found alot of things that were collected that shouldnt of been including that it was collecting lots of data that it had no right to access. This is why its a security problem also it worked this way on many implementations. The main issue is how they handle that data after sending it to the company who implemented it, xigncode doesnt disclose this info at all

The part i should of emphasised as i thought was general knowledge an forgot to mention , xigncode also cant be removed with out removing it from registry and from the file its allocated an still runs when the game is uninstalled otherwise....

So there is a serious concern about privacy violations and violations of EU law.

If anyone claims that this is impossible, I remind you that Google has already been fined several times in the EU for such practices.

ps. I would prefer to know exactly what data this program collects

This is why the law is so important and needs to be further strengthened in the US, too. Nobody should be able to sign away their data. haha. Your data is essentially your personal intellectual rights. To require that to play games or log into whatever social media is RIDICUlOUS.

They could make it so that people could sell it for cash tho. Like 5 bucks a month or something. People would still pay it, and it would still be worth it.

Whoever came up with the 'hack' that they can trade your data for use of a program / service was buggin out. I'm glad the EU has something in place. It's not ok.

Thanks Jay! Shoulda farmed up some more posts. haha.

But yeah, one thing I'd like to see from anti-cheat software going forward is... stopping cheating.

Leaving aside your exaggerated answer, I only asked for details because there is very bad news about this anti-cheat and I am not an expert like you. If you are not able to understand the context, I am sorry, you would have to take my place under the rock
