That panic of yours is preventing you from understanding the process that is going to take place. When this happened with processing stones, as mentioned before, you received exchange token for each item you owned in your mail. You could either use the token to get the original item (i.e. life crystal) or you could sell the token for a specified price to a vendor.
Yes, you might imagine that you lose some silver compared to selling the crystal at max price, but it is not going to be that dramatic at all. Maybe few hundred million. But you completely forget that with this change, you will be actually getting about 18 billion surplus in your mail, because you will not have to use the three expensive sets anymore and they will be converted to raw silver.
We may end up making more since we can sell directly to a vendor to alleviate the tax loss on the MP.
500m * 0.85 = 425m. If we get the exchange price they took to vendor, we will make 466m (iirc).
Nobody mentions the blue crystals? A ton of used crafting/alchemy recipes are going useless. The cheapest crystals giving new players a nearly risk-free tryout since death is "cheap" with these crystals. Additionally these crystals are a relevant source for blackstone powder and part of crafting higher crystals. This is a heavy axe against basic game mechanisms. Unsure if they will be able or willing to give the gameplay a relevant substitute.
"For the upcoming maintenance, certain items will become unobtainable and/or removed. Adventurers who have such items in possession will either be issued the completed item or be compensated (in Silver) based on the Central Market prices. "
A bit weird to say "OR" in announcement like this. How are they deciding if you get silver or the completed crystal?
Okay, I have 4 sets each consisting of 14 crystals: gathering exp, cooking exp, processing exp, and training exp.
Each crystal price is roughly 450M silver.
3 sets of my crystal sets become obsolete, I lose 3 * 14 * 450 = 18,9 BILLION silver. Instantly.
If they ever implement this "simplification" without any form of compensation, I swear I will take my time and manually delete every item on evey alt, then all characters, the I will close the account and will never ever touch anything korean in my life, ever.
Update: Ok I see, they "compensate", but at MIN price. I do not agree on this transaction. They will just take away my property I worked for MONTHS to collect. What is the point of owning things in this game if they can be taken away by "the government" at will?

If you read the notes it sounds like if you have more than a certain number you will be sent raw silver to your Central Market. The unification sounds like you will be compensated in some way.
There is nothing in the announcement about replacement, only removal and silver. That's it. There's a lot of wishful thinking and assurances being asserted here that are baseless.
All the developer has said is that the crystals listed are being removed, and compensated for with silver. As it stands, that is terrbile.
If there is more to the process we need offical statements.
edit: And as for 'compensation', we need replacements or replacement value cost, not the cost of what was destroyed. If some of the capabilities that used to be found on 50k silver crystals have been moved to 50M silver crystals, we should get the 50M silver. Or the replacements, since the other thing that has changed is availability.
