They clearly had some other plan in mind, then abandoned it, leaving some vestiges behind. Probably good that they did, but I don't know what it was - maybe more persistent orb set up by making changes more burdensome? How would that have worked?
Is there any point to the whole aura thing at all? Was it only to drive one-time engagement in LOML content? Because they've taken away a lot of that anyway by implementing boss teleport. Or maybe it was supposed to be easier for new players by giving them a non-gear system to use for early boss levels? For that all they needed to have done is tune the boss levels to Tuvala levels.
They have balanced the boss levels to the currently available orbs and gear. Not sure how they intend to proceed with more orbs and levels. It looks like anything they do there will mean (indrectly) nerfing existing boss levels.
Kind of like they painted themselves into a corner with this.
ps: i am a human - undefined - i am not a robot.
esp after c8 9 10 gonna be gearbased.

hot take here, while I do agree with your post, I honestly don't think they should remove it entirely, me personally I haven't found it that annoying then again I rarely do boss blitz as its still not that fun considering how buggy the bosses can be at c7. However, for those who do grind c7 bosses or any other calamities I can see why it would be an annoyance, my suggestion is to rework the aura's where depending on the boss your fighting and your available orbs it will automatically allocate the maximum amount of orbs into the AP category for you instantly. Then if you choose you can allocate them differently by selecting 'Aura Management'. Along with a prompt that tells you when your current aura set up does not match the boss you are attempting to battle, preventing you from entering the boss' instance.
Cheers
I agree, going through the menu to change auras is a tedious pain that offers me no additional immersion, decision-making, strategy, lore awareness, or anything.
All it does is make me click stuff and spend some tiny amount of silver, just one more little painful annoyance, one more friction point, in the process that made me less willing to do my shrine bosses each week when they released.
