Why is Evasion still a stat in this game with ACTION combat?

Blocking with sword is something normal in real life.

But this is game, a fentasy game with spells. Imagine if they remove resist accuracy and evasion what will happend. Specialy with those big AOEs with multiple hits. You gona have to reduce damage greatly and engrease the hp.
Im also with Catastigma on this - its RPG you need stats to work your gear adons etc. Remove them, NO, Make them work better, YES.

Blocking with the sword - yes but with the sword drawn in the right position, standing still or possibly moving slowly backwards. And not blocking all attacks (physical, magic, arrows, etc.) by swinging the sword in all directions :)

Someone here got too much footage in tekken or some combat simulators and wants to convert an MMORPG into something like that ;)

Completely agree with OP, removing evasion & rng resists would make the game more skill based (then you could go more in depth, like; removing multiple hit or aoe ccs, making every cc unproteced, reworking SA to be more like FG instead so you reduce grab effectiveness and the unbalance it creates, etc. but one step at a time).

People quote GW2 but that game has no "rng" resists, if you hit a stun or a kd, you stun or kd, if you do a burst combo the enemy will die (no rng resists or gear carry there, the top gear compared to the "free" gear has a whopping 5% difference in stats).

Even games like BnS (which were true esports) were completely equalized without RNG resists, pure skill and reaction, no luck or gear.

Sadly, BDO being a grinder attracted the kind of community that wants to be gear/rng carried (else why would they waste their life grinding in circles every single day?) so of course this post would get this kind of reaction.

Get rid of grab resist and ignore resists. Its dumb to win or lose because of luck.

But also put in a way to break grabs. And no, don't have it be just pressing your new grab escape button to instantly get out of it that has a cooldown of 20 seconds but their grab is 15 seconds cooldown

I literally cannot think of anything more stupid and cringe to have in an action game than evasion as a stat that will make you miss attacks that you physically connected with. Evasion along with resistance make this game's combat and PvP reach levels of stupidity and cringe that almost seem unthinkable, as if the game doesn't already have enough issues with it's busted engine.

Remove evasion, remove resistances. I've said it so many damn times on here. Other people have said it too. Why is this still a thing in an action game literally 8 years later? What's the point of even having action combat when you have stupid RNG stats that make your attacks that you connect with not count?

I just can't with how incompetent some things in this game are. I don't get how this ever even ended up being in the game in the first place.

Just go do what most of the PvPers that must PvP in a MMO do and go play an MMO that has a popular PvP scene and little to no RNG stats for it's combat. The only RNG stats in that game are Magic Find = item drop chance and  Precsision = chance to crit. Otherwise, just do what most have done and get your PvP outside the genre. And only use the MMO genre for PvE and RP related activities.

Yeah, pretty much all of this. The most interesting thing I've noticed is how the PvPers that are hard attracted to games like BDO say GW2 PvP is trash. Even though you can find more PvP activity in a hour in GW2 then you can in a week in PvP activity in games like BDO. I do indeed find it strange.

But at the end of the day, it is what it is.

hey google what is build diversity

You can pick an evasion or a DR class and do whatever build that class' base stats lock you in..... #trollface

Then you can pretend that that is diversity.

Even though BDO is a MMORPG, it takes many elements from action games and even fighting games.

From the moment we accept Iframes, I don't see why rng elements could not be removed, even if it's common in RPG?

Most of you won't know it, but a MMORPG tried it in the past, the Chronicles of Spellborn. Made by a small team, unfinished, bought by Acclaim which let it die, it was similar to BDO as you had to correctly for the hits to land : but it had 2 goals :

- no rng elements in the combat system, a skill under the same circumstances would do the same damages

- no debuff able to completely incapacitate the opponent.

BDO could try it, and I also doubt that players would be unhappy to see a well timed and targeted CC or skill to land with certainty, without an IG mechanics to make it fail for no reason.

For sure, it would need several other tweaks for balance.

With tweeks will work ofc. But how will classes like guardian and woosa for example will say bb to their big aoes ? Or every class should have good block or i-frame. And that will make combat slower.
