Hello fellow adventurers!

I go under the family name Preddan ingame and are a returning adventurer. I have former experience from content creating within competetive fortnite e.g. tournaments and league play. I was mostly known for being the largest swedish streamer within competetive gameplay who hosted the largest tournaments that attracted some of the biggest name in the scene with prizes up to $1000. I quit Fortnite a couple of years ago and also my career within content creation. But with my reignited ambition for BDO my ambition for competetive content creation and community events has reignited aswell.

I have asked the support if I'm allowed to host and sponsor my own PvP tournaments with cash prizes but are still awaiting answer.

Meanwhile I wanted to ask the community if it is of any interest?

My thoughts were to begin with depending on interest a 1v1 tour with trial chars, no restriction to classes, arena of arsha, bo3 with winners and loser brackets, final bo5 were the finalist from the winners bracket starts with 1-0.

Later on if interest remains I could continue on with 3v3, GvG, a league system and so on.

I will sponsor with cash prizes that will be paid out through paypal.

Everything would be streamed from my twitch channel and all revenue from the stream would be reinvested into the cash prizes for the tournaments.

My question to the community is, is this of any interest? Have it been done before without the involvement of PA? Any feedback on the idea of this type of tournament/league system? Is it allowed?

Please upvote, comment and share this post to spread the post for more exposure for better readings of interest.

Kind regards,

Preddan

Many are, you should probably talk with Blue about this and other content creators who have already launched successful community tournies.

AoS Custom games are a better format than Trial Characters which allows for 0 build diversity, which makes some classes simply stronger than others due to how the game is built. Also, little-known fact, Trial Characters still use your MC crystals, which ofc leads to a major disbalance in who has how much silver to participate.

PS. You will have to ban Shai entirely if you don't want every single match to be the same 2 classes + Shai.

Is it possible to spectate custom AoS matches? Haven't been tinkering with custom AoS matches too much yet.

I dunno if they ever implemented it, it was announced months ago with the coming of custom AoS, but then again, this is Pearl Abyss... It's possible for GMs/CMs 100% since they did it in a community event. The best chance you have is finding 7 people to join a custom AoS game {6 players + 1 spec} or asking PA support.

-

Edit:

You can always make the tourny 2v2 and have the 3rd on both teams be the spectators :D
2v2 would probably be a more preferred format by the community anyway.

-

PS. I am NOT human.

Hey OP, there's always an interest in these tournaments; most guilds host their own in-community ones now and then.

Regarding the reservations around Trial characters and crystals, it is of course possible to ask people to unequip them, though, I personally agree in that AoS is a more competitive environment. Specifically, 1v1s have reached a stage of unbalance rarely seen in the game's history, and 3v3s have become more the norm (though I could see 2v2s and even 1v1s having an amount of interest in AoS, especially in mirror matchups).

However, the AoS spectating feature is currently not working (at the very least not for custom games; perhaps PAs GMs have a means of fixing it or alternatively entering matches through GM shenanigans). We currently work around this by streaming a team-player's PoV in discord, and then streaming that discord stream by a non-participant. Of course, this is suboptimal for high quality gameplay/spectating, but it does offer a 1st person view and often 1 team's Comms, and is the only workaround we have. (It should be possible in 1v1/2v2s to kill 2 players to serve as spectators for each side... But we have not attempted this yet).

I'd say your best bet is reaching out to existing streamers, PvP guilds and starting up your own BDO streams in the process. Perhaps spectating sieges or similar, as streamers used to do. Once people get to know you more in the community, hosting a competitive tournament should be quite easy.

Thank you very much for the feedback and important insight on how to solve the spectating problem!
