Family Name: Inki

Region (NA/EU): EU

Suggestions/Comments: Remove tagging system and add wardrobe that will work account wide same as pets and fairy. Wardrobe can have multiple tabs where players can create different presets (PVE, PVP, life skills). Players will be able to put in their wardrobe the best gear they have, like armor, accessories, weapons, everything that the player can wear on character. All characters on account will be able to use items from the wardrobe as linked items, upgrade them or change for other items that better fit into the set. Characters that use linked sets are not restricted from changing equipped individual pieces of gear from their inventory that better fit the class/gameplay.

Why it’s needed? I think everyone will agree that getting a full top gear set is the ultimate achievement in this game as it's the hardest one and nearly impossible to get. I doubt there are any players who have it already, maybe, except devs who obtained it with dev tools. Apart from main gear there are also such rarities like infinite potions, unbreakable compass, Liana's toolbag, etc. which also takes a ridiculous amount of time/silver to get or they are simply limited to 1 item per account.

Here is just an example of what a top gear set may look like in case you were wondering.

Over 5 trillion in price. FIVE TRILLION, CARL! That's 12 zeros after 5!! Even if you can make 1 billion (1 000 000 000) a day, to get 5 trillion you would need to play for over 5000 days in a row without skipping, that’s roughly 14 years, yoU HEAR ME CARL?! 14 freaking years!!!!!
But even those 14 years is obviously way too optimistic because firstly you need to get to the point where you can do 1 bil a day. And not skipping a single day is also nearly impossible. And this is only 1 (ONE) single set of gear!!

This was just a little prelude on why gear sets should be account wide and not character specific, and why a wardrobe is needed, so let’s get back to the wardrobe idea.

Wardrobe is a complex feature in any game and requires a lot of time and thought to make it work well, but there is no doubt it’s a very important feature, especially for such games as bdo where over time players inevitably collect different gear sets and outfits, in such cases wardrobe works as a very powerful organizer.

Here is a little draft(!) to show what a wardrobe may look like, how it works and to further support description.

Wardrobe window where you create and select presets or use outfits. It’s separated into 4 segments.

  1. Tab selection. Gear presets / outfits

  2. Main gear. Armor, accessories, artifacts, tools

  3. Weapons

  4. Relics

Gear tab

  • In presets you can select and modify existing presets, create new ones or add new preset slot with +. 2 preset slots are available by default for free, each new preset (+) can be purchased with loyalties/pearls.
  • Gear and weapons can be equipped by any family character that reached lvl 60 and graduated from season server.
  • Equipping weapons will require marni fuel if character’s class can’t use them directly and needs to convert them to usable weapon type (warrior sword > berserk axe).
  • Relics that are unlocked in the wardrobe are available for all characters including low level and seasonal characters.
  • Liana’s toolbag must include slots for fishing rods and riding crops. Fishing rods should NOT be equipped in main hand which removes weapons and weapons outfit. Therefore it requires a separate button to start fishing (e.g. F4).
  • Characters can equip or remove individual pieces of linked gear from their character’s gear slots to change with another type of gear. For example, a player wants to swap stone with ap stats to stone with defense stats (tachros spirit stone > guardian spirit stone).

Such gear wardrobe will allow players more easily track their progress and incentivize them to try other classes gameplay and activities.

Outfit tab

Surely there are a lot of fashionistas in this game, but unfortunately the game doesn’t have a proper outfit wardrobe like many other mmos do. Outfit tab can look like a list or grid with different filters for easier search.

  • Outfit wardrobe must be family wide and outfits shouldn’t be bound to specific characters. If a player decides to delete striker character and later create another one, the striker outfit previously unlocked in the wardrobe can be applied to a new character.
  • Outfits can be classified like this
    • Free - available for multiple classes and obtained through main quests, crafting, grinding. Dobart, Grunil, etc. Once unlocked it becomes available to all characters that can use it at once without a need to unlock another same outfit.
    • Multiclass - paid outfits available for multiple classes. Oblivion, Durandal, Vediras, etc. Once unlocked it becomes available to all characters that can use it at once without a need to purchase another same outfit.
    • Unique - class specific. WeDan, Florchestra, Narusawa, etc. Can be used only by specific class.
  • Outfit once purchased/unlocked becomes available to all characters in account that can use it. E.g. if a player purchases Vediras outfit, it will become usable by all characters in account at once. Multiple characters can use it without restriction even if some other character in the account already uses it.
  • Players can remove outfits from the wardrobe to sell it on market or process into materials.
  • Outfit tab should also have a section for other outfits like horses.

Such outfit wardrobe will allow collectors to track collection and incentivize them to make it full. Players won’t need to purchase the same outfit (Vediras, Oblivion...) multiple times and instead allow them to spend resources on new outfits for other classes or other pearl items.

Implementing this feature probably implies a lot of changes to gear and pearl items, as well as a rework of inventory. However, if you've played any other games where such a wardrobe exists, you'll know that it is a massive quality-of-life feature for a game-as-a-service model like BDO. I think this feature alone can benefit the game in the long run.

PA already announced on last calpheon ball that they will implement integrated preset system that should also contains gear presets. That could mean half of your ideas are already in production state.

About liana's bag - they said it will be removed and instead there should be something like life skill equipment (?) but we don't have any news about it.

Relics idea is cool but... what with people that have multiple compass/telescope/map?

Tagging system is not a copy system. Tag is to keep your 2nd character always in same place and this system is very usefull if you have e.g. pve and pvp character. And it definitely shouldn't be removed.

That's image from calpheon ball if you haven't seen it before.

Make them sellable as infinite potions. The game already have to much progression barriers and restricting gear by making it bound to character or unsellable is just another nail to make game more solo-oriented instead of mmo.

It's actually usefull to have multiple of this treasure items because each compass/map/telescope have different cooldown. They shouldn't be sellable, game is already too easy. Almost everything can be bought. Idk what are the progression barriers in your opinion - everything until very end game items (deboreka) can be bought from the market. There is few items that you need to do by your own (merchant ring, compass, nol, map, telescope, t10, carrack) but those items are not an barrier for players at all.

Having the option to sell an item doesn't necessarily mean that you can't keep it. Think of maids, where you use one and it goes on cooldown while others are still accessible.

If by "too easy" you mean that all you have to do is grind for thousands of hours, then yes, the mechanic behind that is not complex indeed. Making relics sellable doesn't make it easier to acquire, it just provides more options on how to obtain items. Instead of grinding for thousands of hours in the same grind spots, I could engage in other activities in other areas to earn silver and buy the items that I need. Meanwhile, players who have multiple relics can choose to sell or keep them.

By "barriers" I mean the progression system, which is very punishing and time/resource-demanding, even for veteran players who struggle to reach end-game gear which is nearly impossible.

These suggestions aim to improve accessibility and reward players for the time spent in the game, rather than catering to the ego of a few players who can afford to spend thousands of hours in the game and want to maintain the status quo, disregarding the experiences of other players.
