I recently started playing BDO and I've realized that I'm overwhelmed with many things, or rather, I feel a bit lost in the game.

The quests feel like something I just want to finish, or it feels like a mass production because I don't really see a gripping and in-depth story for myself. It's more like I just want to finish the quests to get the rewards, but not for the quests themselves, which naturally undermines my motivation, because as I said, I don't even know what the rewards are good for and if it's worth it.

Then there are so many concepts that I don't quite understand, like the Season Character/server. Is there perhaps a beginner's guide that can guide me through and explain what I should focus on to make progress as sensibly as possible?

Thanks in Advance :-)

Welcome!

Some sites you want to bookmark:

But if you just use any internet search and start with "bdo guide to ..." you'll likely find what you need.

There are also a lot of video guides, and the twitch streamers (and their chatrooms) can also answer questions.

But stick with the main series quests at least one time through, since many of them unlock other things.  It's the game's way of taking you on a tour of the content, sometimes the regions and NPCs, sometimes the mobs, sometimes various skills and other activities.

It's a big game.  Your biggest asset will be patience and perseverance.

Oh - and find a guild you like.  The people there can help with a lot.

And as for all those notifications and how to tone that down, there are guides out there for that too.  Some of those are here in another forum section.

Have fun!

I'm about a year into the game and I've just scratched the surface. The main story quest is not that interesting but it will take you where you need to go.

Don't get in a big hurry to get to end game, the journey is the best part. Be sure to check out youtube, there are several creators there who can fill in the gaps. Evildousharm is one of my favorites.

Find a good guild to answer questions and help make the game fun.

There's an official Adventure's Guide that you can access in-game too by pressing F2 (or F1, can't remember which one). https://www.naeu.playblackdesert.com/en-US/Wiki

This was hidden by admin due to the reports it has received.

Because there is none. This game is not about story or quests.

I play games for the story and quests.  Grinding has it's place, but so does immersion and questing.

The lore of this game is truly amazing.  The story is implemented poorly.

This game treats art as well as the story.... amazing in of itself, but implemented poorly.

This game has a rich and vast world.  Those who play shoul be in it for the long-haul, though, as it is not to be beaten in a month.

There's a lot this game has to offer to make the ride a rich experience, but still........

If they could implement everything better, this game would blow all the others away.  But, it's just a grind-fest cash-grab game with some amazing art attached to it.  I'll keep dreaming though.  This game might become as enchanting as it was when I first started playing.

Peace
