Hiya soo i got a question right. I'm from the netherlands and due to lootbox law restrictions here im barred from allmost every single sale that includes some type of rng item. If i were to use a VPN to change my location to lets say germany? Will this lead to a bann?
Anyone got experience with this?
It would be against ToS, pretty sure. That much I can say, since youre not supposed to use VPN to evade any region restrictions.
The consequences of such an action are not known though, as far as I am aware.
Dutchy here aswell,
As probably VPN would not be allowed, i think PA should give dutch/belgian players the option to buy something that comes close to the equalivant of those "rng" boxes. Because now we have to work harder (or pay more) for our upgrades then other countries. Wich in my oppinion is unfair.

There Is technically nothing wrong with using a VPN. In general using a VPN is a smart idea if security is your biggest concern.
Obviously using a VPN to play KR BDO while your say sitting in Utah is going to cause more issues than you being worried about a Ban one issue is the Lag and your Ping would make BDO almost unplayable.
Same goes for using it to play in NA.. if your 2-300 ping Avg your gonna have a rough time in the PVP scene.
There is alot of reasons to use a VPN There is almost no way outside of tools that PA doesn't have access too that can track you back i.e. Government entities such as FBI, Cia,, DOD, DOJ have access to such tools.
But for PA to take the time to find out that your playing in NA from say New Zealand on a stable VPN is not going to get you banned.
Now if your in say Philippines and your a Pinoy grinding BDO for $$$$ and some how log in to an account without your VPN active well let's say that will raise some red flags and get your client banned most likely.
I use ExitLag I know it's not a VPN per say, but I been using it for almost 5 years. I also tried NordVPN due to were I live in the states one or the other is absolutely required for me to play BDO since my ping is super unstable with MY ISP.
Ok to make sure I was not misunderstood: VPN usage in BDO is perfectly fine and allowed. Especially for reasons like improving ping to server or dealing with routing issues if the ISP is being stupid.
However, the problem described here pertains to using the VPN to evade regional restrictions, like the ban of loot boxes in BeNeLux countries. As this would be an intentional rule break, I would assume it is against ToS, though as I said, only GMs can give the final answer here.

Or you could vote the puritanical tyrants out of office and get elected yourself to get the law changed.
Doesnt matter if it is agianst ToS or not, since PA has no way of telling if you are sitting on VPN or just physicaly playing from another country. As long as the restriction can be bypassed by VPN usage that is a PA problem not yours. Beucase using VPN simply simulates what would happne if you would physicaly leave the country to play from elsewhere.
If they want to enforce it on account the VPN should not bypass anything in the first place, aswell as physicaly changing your location.
