There's no denying that the original purpose of the likes/crown has faded.
It is intended to be used as a way of recognizing helpful people that give helpful answers. But it has long been used as a popularity contest.
Every 90d reset, you always see the same people speedrunning likes. Either it's just them giving each other likes, or going as far as using alt accounts to give themselves likes. They could as easily be talking about aliens and the purpose of life, while ignoring questions and the same people would still get likes. Just because they are always active in that chat.

Giving Ambassadors a little more recognision in chats is a great idea and something we've been trying to push for a long time now. But I have the feeling that either there is no Ambassador program in Korea at all, or it is utilized in a whole different way, so the devs will never see the benefits of it. Prayge

Is this a regional thing?  I don't have a problem with that on NA Florin chat.  Maybe reporting chat might be a better route.  We were just given that tool, maybe it'll work maybe it wont, but I suggest trying that first.

The report chat function is abused more than anything. I've personally used it on things people say that I don't agree with or just don't like them. Not a lot of people were aware on how strict the operational policy is until this function was brought ingame. You can be chat banned just for cursing and if you don't believe me check the operational policy.

Ya that was me exp long ago before I just remove group chat from my tabs. Theres titles too I think so of course it'll be abused. Gets reset right off the bat people are trading likes to get that 1st lil icon. People asking for likes and saying I'll like you back. Then once someone gets icons then ppl start likeing them more often cuz they got an icon they must be knowledgeble and helpful not scammers trading likes or alt accounting in to like their own stuff. That was years ago doubt it's changed. Other forums are the same like GW2 some people got 20 accounts would log in and spam confused emotes on posts and like their own. It's pretty embarrassing that people do that but not much you can do.

So you admit to abusing the system, then saying that it works, and your argument against using the report chat function to resolve the issue is what?

I think removing like function would reduce toxicity at first place, so people won't have to spend more time on reporting.

The people being toxic should be removed from the chat regardless of the reason they are toxic, if they are toxic about "likes" they will just be toxic about something else.  Why punish everyone when you can punish the people that are comitting the crime instead?

I do agree that the purpose of the 'Like' function has decayed from its original purpose in SOME group chats however, this is a problem for select few groups. I do think removing them will simply solve the issues in the groups that the problems originate from but will hamper the functionality of trust in other groups. The resolution has to be a blanket answer since it will affect all chat groups. I myself have a crown in Lunar Halo Inn and I admit I have not done as much as others who offer more help and advice but are not recognized as easily because of a silly little icon being absent from their name.

This may be a stretch but if I were to make a clear decision, I'd remove the likes too and have it to where Ambassadors have an icon only next to name so they are easier to identify for new players/anyone with a question needing assistance with an answer. I think this would solve the clique-like drama that some are experiencing and if anyone cared that much to be noticed to have a icon, they would have to help others and apply for the Ambassador Program. I think this would be a win-win for the community as a whole.

I am looking forward to your feedback.

Your opinion is reasonable

The only people who wanna get rid of likes are the people who cant get any :P No but fr, of all the things to be upset about when it comes to the entirety of BDO, the fact its this is rather sad. No one cares if someone has a crown next to their name or not, this aint runescape. Id be more pissed about the silver value of pearl items being ludicriously low then this.
