Requesting to remove the function to giving LIKE to someone in group chat.

Reasons to remove it:

1. Serves no purpose for mass people, useless in short.

2. Encourages toxicity in chat because some group of players made a pact to trade likes to each other, so they can have crown emoji. Those players use unnecessary, provocative and abusive chats towards other players to make them leave the chat. So that they only can have the emoji besides their name. This kind of behavior is not new player friendly at all, like they tend to get harrased when they ask any game related question.

3. Those same group of players with emoji, often portrays themselves as PearlAbyss official GM/CM. New players can easily be mislead with this emoji besides their name as I have seen this practice too often.

i agree. i see new players given wrong info when asking questions by people with crowns, or cussing new players out etc

I agree. It's unneeded and causes nothing but problems with "cliques" trying to control what topics are ok and what are not. On a related sidenote should probabally vet the "Ambassadors" a bit better too. They also have an issue with "cliques".......Heidel Street

Speaking only for what goes on in the Dancing Marlin chat group, 'like's are a way to reward those who post guild missions that people need.  Works just fine there.

Just out of curiosity, what chat group(s) are te folks posting here using?  Because if it's Lunar Halo Inn, the default, I'd suggest moving to some other group.  It's sad what happens there when new people are funnelled into it.  Or maybe it's also partially because of the new people.  I left there a long time ago.

So maybe if 'like's are a problem there, disable it there only.  There is also a new reporting feature, and you can always block people.  'Like's or not, it won't change what's going on.  Leave the feature alone, please.

I do agree that the purpose of the 'Like' function has decayed from its original purpose in SOME group chats however, this is a problem for select few groups. I do think removing them will simply solve the issues in the groups that the problems originate from but will hamper the functionality of trust in other groups. The resolution has to be a blanket answer since it will affect all chat groups. I myself have a crown in Lunar Halo Inn and I admit I have not done as much as others who offer more help and advice but are not recognized as easily because of a silly little icon being absent from their name.

This may be a stretch but if I were to make a clear decision, I'd remove the likes too and have it to where Ambassadors have an icon only next to name so they are easier to identify for new players/anyone with a question needing assistance with an answer. I think this would solve the clique-like drama that some are experiencing and if anyone cared that much to be noticed to have a icon, they would have to help others and apply for the Ambassador Program. I think this would be a win-win for the community as a whole.

I am looking forward to your feedback.

As someone who has been chat banned 7 times I believe the like function does not serve its original purpose anymore and hasn't for awhile. I've personally almost had crown just from begging for them or saying sexual things. Only Ambassadors should have an icon next to their name. Just today I saw someone's who's name rhymes with pillow who has a crown give someone an innaccurate spawn time for vell.

I agree with Ros. For group chats -- LHI in particular -- it would benefit new players the most to identify ambassadors as reliable sources of information. In fact displaying the ambassadors in all chats would be beneficial.

As someone currently with a Gold crown I'm fine with getting rid of likes.

Every time in the past when I had gotten the crown from genuinely helping someone, there would be individuals that would have their full guild or alt accounts boost them. Which is technically within their rights, but it gives a lot of people false hope by being "demoted", and have them not want to participate in chat after.

It's a *constant* back/forth battle from trying not to lose a crown, and you make a lot of people that had one angry.

The only benefit is a temporary title during the like resets, and your name stands out.

If you give genuine advice or make an effort to help someone, it makes your message easier to identify.
However, as mentioned there are a ton of people who will troll or give completely false advice.

If the crowns were to be used on Ambassadors only, I believe they would be held accountable with a higher regard
As in their chats would stand out more.

On one side their messages would be easier to identify, and they wouldn't have to "spam for likes" to try to get the crown.
...but they'd also have to watch what they say more, as it would be a double-edged sword that could be used against them.
(As currently not all Ambassadors have crowns)

I believe there would need to be a greater selection of Ambassadors, if it passes.
Since what you say might hold a higher weight if you have an emoji near your name, it would put a lot of pressure on current Ambassadors as they only consist of a small portion of chat. By promoting more individuals it'd be easier for them to help out.
