Suggestions/Comments: There have been many changes to PVP, some for the better, and some for the worse. This post will not be about those changes, but a suggestion for mediating the middle-ground between PVP and PVE players, while maintaining both kind of player's autonomy.
I am suggesting a per character setting that you can toggle either on or off with a 24 hour cooldown that grants you 10% increased Item Drop Rate, but the downside to having this on would be that if you get pvp'd, the one who flagged would not have a penalty imposed. If this is on, an icon can be shown next to your name.
I think such a change would benefit everyone. Those that don't want to PVP that still do get forced to PVP would still have all the relavent penalities applied to the one who flagged. Those who are fine with PVP would gain a small benefit and PVP would not be penalized for the one who flagged. I think this is would be a good compromise that satiates both sides and still keeps the new changes relevant, all while providing more autonomy to the player in regard to what they want from their BDO experience.
Doesn't have to be 24 hours, just an active decision that you make when leaving town. It's how some other games do it

Yeah! I think that can be a great alternative! I could see that being an issue with the archaeologist’s map, however, though I am not sure that's necessarily a bad thing as you would have to still incur the maps cooldown as well as temporarily leave the area you previously were in. Food for thought.
The 24 hours was simply my thought on a sure-fire way of anti-exploitation of its mechanics and a form of temporary commitment to that specific role for that character.
Cheers!
I think this is a good idea in spirit, but I don't think it would solve the problem and could potentially be abused depending on how long / short the cooldown is.
I also think that the Karma system as a whole needs an overhaul and has needed one for like, 6 years. It was kinda fine back in the day when the average gear score was 540. Nowadays it's just deeply flawed, and the fact they're making the maximum negative karma *10x higher* doesn't exactly help the issue.
