Hi new player here. I have seen a couple of posts about pvp some saying its easy to avoid and some seeming to want original Diablo 2 open world. (Yes I know, I'm old). Full disclosure I hate pvp, I hate non consensual pvp with the burning passion of a thousand hells, (Too much time playing Vampire the Masquerade LARP in the early 2000's). Just want to know if I can actually have fun here or if I'm wasting my time and should uninstall straight away.

Thanks

PvP is very easy to avoid especially if you do not grind over others who are in a location before you.  Also communication helps a lot

I would't recommend this game to my worst enemy. Pvp is the least of its problems

Yeah, I mean... pvp isn't really gonna happen. I barely even get pvp'd on arsha lool. I mean, I do, but considering it's open, people are just trying to grind there, too.

The thing is, it's a very long journey, and I started it late-ish like I bought in 16 to try, but I didn't come back to play for real until like 19. Then I dipped in and out. If you can stand the progress being slow and it doesn't drive you nuts, it's a decent MMO. The market is so trash atm that it's probably one of the best. If you can enjoy stuff like life skilling, sailing, working on mastering how to clear out areas of mobs (cuz there isn't really a strategy to fighting mobs, per se,) then you will have fun.

If you wanna spend a little money, too, then even better. Your money will go a long way if you are smart about it, but there is still stuff you will wanna buy. If you are between the "I will p2w," and "I'll spend a little money cuz I like the game and it's worth it in game," you will be in a tough spot as well. Probably constantly strifed out.

Likely you'll have to spend 100-150 bucks if you wanna play for real. If you take it slow and do it over time, tho, it's not too bad. I'm not mad I spent money, and I factor in the original cost of the game, but I do think BDO is kinda trending down atm. It's easy to get geared enough to farm or make widgets (lifeskill,) but what is your patience for that?

If your goal is just to be the most geared, it's not gonna happen. If you wanna just chill and enjoy what BDO has to offer and are worried pkers are gonna ruin your experience, it's not gonna happen haha. It didn't even happen back in 2019.

PvP is great, PvE is great.  The penalties for doing either are too excessive.  Life skilling is fun and there are no downsides, but it is very difficult to progress doing life skilling.

BDO is a great game with a ton of potential, then PA decided to penalize everyone just for trying to play.

Every server was for people who likes OwPvP, Arsha was/is server without penalties for PKing. Now PvP is dead on all servers exept Arsha. Or prety much PvP with consequences is dead in this game. There are some rare PKers. Which is not exactly OwPvP. Also you cant defent spot anymore. But you wont see many people anyway.
