Have to wait a week for Guild league bcs of 3 penalties

We got 1st penalty a week ago because 1 got game crush after hitting Join button. I would like to know how to avoid this kind of issues in future and how long does partial penalty last .... i mean 1 of 3. TY
Also i think 2 mins to join is to short or make it so we can join as platoon.
