After having gone through the new-player experience and interacting with many new players and first-time BDO streamers, I think one of the biggest hang-ups for them when they play BDO is that they invest a lot of time and energy in a brand new character without knowing until much later if they like it or not. The gameplay for different classes changes pretty drastically once they hit Succession or Awakening choices, and they can come to realize they're not very comfortable with the class at that point. However, most don't want to start over with the quest-lines or their season progression just to try another class that they will still not know whether they will like or not. So they tough it out with their original choice and end up not wanting to keep playing because they just don't enjoy what they're playing with.

Most people I've talked to misunderstand what "Trial Character" stands for or how to use it. Others don't even notice the option and only hear about it later from other more experienced players. My suggestion is this:

SUGGESTION for a new account create a Trial Character and a mini-tutorial about the vendors. Run them through basic combos for each spec (Succession or Awakening if available). Option to bypass this, but will still bring attention to the availability to use Trial Characters to test out classes!

Bonus Changes: Rather than a useless hexagon for each class in the character creator, have Ease of Use levels (New player to Experienced BDO users). Perhaps even a focus stat suggestion like Evasion/Accuracy & DP/AP and basic pros/cons

I don't want to ask for too much here, but I think that the Trial Character option is the MOST useful thing a new player can mess around with before even starting questing. I can't help but empathize with them when they've gotten so far but want to try something else and are on their first Season attempt. In order to continue the season, they have to delete their character and start over to play a different class, or just power through on that class and do another character on Normal/Olvia servers without the Season Character perks.

Please let me know your thoughts on this (I will make edits if needed) and upvote if you agree!
Note: If you're gonna down-vote this, at least explain why so we can discuss it! If not, we'll just assume it's just to be toxic and not helpful >.>

While i do agree myself that this would be the best way for players to decide on class i feel that people who have just installed the game kinda aren't even sure if they wanna play and don't really care about the gravity of their class choice... and mostly pick what they think is cool or heard from friends is good.

I don't personally think forcing them to do class trial would impact their choice as they wouldn't even know if the combos are good and such because they would have no frame of reference, think they would be just annoyed they have to take extra steps before going into game.

That being said i do agree it should be more visible and recommended from the get go! It is the best way to get to know the class before investing time and effort in it.

Maybe bring up the option but allow you to skip it if you dont want to bother with it?

I added an edit that an option to bypass should be added but that it would still highlight the Trial Character testing option!

A class' ranking can change based on changes made in balance patches. So while I think having the option to trial a character is a good idea, I disagree with the ranking system. At the very least, however, they could rank classes based on their "ease of use" or the learning curve required to be proficient with that class.

People should play what they like and not what is the best at grinding or nw this week.

I agree with this. With updates, capabilities in different areas could fluctuate and expecting them to keep adjusting values in the character creator seems too much to ask. I think "Ease of Use" should still be something that stays relatively the same. Like most of us long time players agree some classes have always been easier to play from start to finish than others. I removed the request for ranking in different areas from the post.

Thanks for the suggestion!
