Hi community,

came here from the recent prime promotion, and visuals plus performance are very good so far. I like games with some complexity, so I guess I'm not wrong here, although I haven't experienced the RNG gods much yet. I try following the various beginner guides for season chars, questing is mostly straight forward, no crashes, two side quests "hang" (blue objective was destroyed, and didn't count) but eventually unblocked from completion after some time running around. Fighting for me is mostly randomly smashing buttons for skills/combos suggested on screen, need to change I know, but it's also fun that way. Got distracted by the goblin caves, because I recognized being able to level up much faster by just AoE smashing and looting the boxes with silver and keys lying around, than by killing goblins themselves, lol.

The only a bit negative thing, I didn't recognize what a value pack is, which it expiring now, I have to find a solution for my hoarding habit, hehe. Also I don't get all the different buffs and where they are coming from, is there a place on UI which tells me the cumulated buff and where it's coming from individually?

Welcome to Black Desert Online.

Very nice opening, I Envy anyone just getting started for the 1st time. you have a Massive world to explore. One simple suggestion for you dont get too hung up on questlines right away and enjoy travel on the les beaten paths you will be shocked at the scenery that had a lot of effort put into that is hidden.

A good example is the caves and valleys if you were to say auto path from Altinova to Valencia.

There are surprises EVERYWHERE within BDO this is the one thing i can say after almost 8 years of playing BDO that never stops amazing me, the actual care and detail that went into some of the areas and maps. Obviously not every location is like this and some of those that worked on those specific Biomes no longer work for PA but that being said you will spend a major portion of your adventure in awe of those that came before you.

BDO is a primary solo game so keep in mind that as your out there enjoying it, Be it PVE, Life skill, or just visiting that your on an adventure even something as simple as walking outside of town you may find a direction that may last for a long time.

Good luck to you and dont let the push to get gear over shadow that this Open World is for you to explore and enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words, agree, just fooling around in this vast world can be more fun than following the main quest line, which I already started skipping the dialogs.

There are some more newbie timers running beside the value pack, creating some pressure to progress until you don't need them anymore. I saw a video where someone completed the season content in 6 hours, so I guess I'm not in much hurry.

Greetings,

For newcomers, I would suggest prioritizing quests that offer pets as rewards, particularly if you do not intend to purchase pets from the store. Pets can greatly aid in looting automatically.

It is advisable to pace yourself and avoid becoming overwhelmed by the multitude of tasks available. Focus on one objective at a time and take breaks by engaging in other activities.

As a new player, you may have a unique opportunity to provide feedback to the management regarding PvP concerns. Have the developers reverse PvP changes.

Welcome.  I strongly suggest not skipping the black spirit quest line.  Don't need to focus only on it, but I would definitely complete it

Welcome to BDO, your soon to be best and worst gaming experience!  Some things you'll absolutely love, and other things you'll despise, but all in all, your fun will be what you make of it.  This game was designed to be a marathon, so don't burn yourself out trying to make the most of your buffs, etc.  Pace yourself and have fun.  Don't turn down duels and try to learn from other players, and take a chance on the Season PVP server.  This game's world and lore is awesome.  Some things were rushed, or forgotten, so overlook those.  Immerse yourself in this world and enjoy!!!

Welcome fellow hoarder!

I haven't played with a Value Pack since early 2020 and I really don't miss it (except for dyeing my outfits).

As you discover the world, you will find more storages. As you get CP, you can get extra storage buy renting houses with that purpose.  You can also buy extra storage with loyalties in some towns, and with pearls.

Finally, as you complete the Magnus quest line, that unlocks "fast" travel and the ability to access all your storages from one place. That will greatly help with keeping things organized.  And with level 40 workers, you can choose to have them drop their materials in whatever storage you like, not just in the town they are from.

As others have said, it's a huge game with many different things to do, so take your time and enjoy the ride.

Keeping with the main quest line is a solid advice, I was looking for side quests about inventory/pets in Veila only to realize that they eventually come on the main path. Also I rented all storage houses in Veila I could afford with my CP (plus I got a storage maid for free). My biggest achievement so far is to not die to Red Nose (admitting I had to use the V button on my Nova class char to escape and regen health), lol.

Regarding PvP, I will hold off with opinions until I have learned the relevant mechanics.

Here is an update after completion of the Serendia chapter.

Still going and very much like the combat system, and the various ecosystems are beautiful and fun to watch. The pet recommendation was a good one, have 4 free T1 pets atm, and they are busy looting and even giving some bonuses. The difficulty level in this "ramp-up" phase seems to be toned down, after Red Nose I basically two-shot the following 2 bosses with my Nova, and also no regular NPC opponent requires more than one strike.

Currently I try to fill the knowledge gaps for my energy pool before moving on to a different area. I also ran out of beginner stones after a bad enchanting fail streak on my Naru shield where it multiple times bumped back from (II) to (I) after 2 pieces went to (V) quite straight. People tell me, there will be more, although I got exactly 1 beginner stone (I started enchanting with ~800) as reward from killing the Serendia boss and from loot I only get time-filled ones ...

The interaction interface is a bit clumsy, but one can get used to it. What I don't get is that the daily/seasonal rewards are split across 3(!) completely different interfaces, which you have to access from different places on the screen.
