So why the hell did i write all this?

 

From someone who has been playing MMOs for years, i feel BDO is on the cusp of being the first MMO to make an amazing breakthrough with content and being able to provide a world that truely feels alive while still maintaining that sandbox style. This game has so much potential to be the #1 MMO in the world if it had some more group PvE options as well as a structured arena setup. I do not want to really get into class balance for arenas etc.. because in my opinion, in a perfect sandbox MMO, nothing is truely balanced.

By simply adding a solid PvE structure for group play and a solid arena system, BDO would attract a huge market of players as the current MMO market is terrible. The only half decent looking game coming out is Ashes and it wont be until 2024, by then already outdated. BDO has the combat, crafting system, open world and gearing down good, if they had more atractive PvE options like raids and dungeon in the style proposed, they would be able to get so many more players.

Understandably you wish for group content. Unfortunantly you seem new to the game, and just dont know Pearl abyss, and their business model.

You wont like the dungeons they put in the game..they will be p2w peices of garbage, where its content thats not worth it, unless you have some pearl item..in which case they may as well just sell the end dungeon rng chest like they do in Lost ark now.

 

Dungeons in other games are fun cause they are on sub based business models, where you pay for a full experiance.

With PA business model of overpriced gambling mechanincs layered ontop an incomplete experiance sold to you ala-carte style...you will end up just wishing you could spam the dungeons like you do boss scrolls for +0 boss items now.

 

Id perfer group PvP inspired routes to obtain special items rather then dungeons in my opinion.

By keeping the raids to the elvia realms and major cities, and having farmable keys for dungeons in areas like Necropolis. They could maintain the sandbox open world model by making everyone participate in the same raid or dungeons. This gives a place for PvE guilds to actually flourish while not "Theme Parking" any content.


In my opinion, the issues with Alter of Blood and the likes is that they put them outside the main world, in an instanced off area so it automatically feels like dead content, ie something you do once for your +100 scroll and never again. By adding Raids to Elvia Cities, and dungeon areas to places like Necropolis and keeping them part of the open world, it would be truly unique and bring in a massive influx of players looking for group content, without trivializing any of the solo content.

 

For instance if Elvia Calpheon was an actual 10 man raid with say 5-6 rotations. It means up to 60 people could be there playing together via pvp or pve.

If PA wants to really break into the western market this is content that would be amazing because it would be a newer take on Raids. No game really since FF11 has had "Open World" Raids, example being Dynamis where you raid the Dynamis or Alternate worlds cities. You could go into the raid with the intent to PvP or PvE.

 

Same concepts for dungeons in an area like Necropolis. You could put keys you need to farm in the solo area to enter the dungeon area, where multiple groups are competing for the dungeon farm.

 

If PA really wants to make money out of a Western Market, they dont need to cash shop everything, they need to create content that people want to do and in turn this would increase cash shop sales because people are having fun playing with their friends.

 

I would argue people would spend MORE money if there was MORE content. PvE Guilds could become a non-meme if there was actual PvE content. People as a whole always spend more money when they are having fun with their friends versus having fun by themselves.

Look dude, it's not going to happen, quit trying to "force" it.  Really there are hundreds of MMOs out there with what you are asking for, please stop asking to fundementally change the game, and stop asking for things that go against the fundementals of the current game.  What you suggest is just a waste of resources for less than 1% of the playerbase that might use it a few times.

Current state: grind, grind, grind, rng, rng, rng, rng on loot, rng, on thr boxes, rng on enchantments, sorry for the word (fucked up economy) no proper questing reward or gear progression reward after doing lets say quests that helps the players to cathing up. so bascily thats it. thiese things are goes against every aspect btw in every fundamental term what an mmorpg means. for real.
