As was said before: for PvE, the extra monster AP outweights the backet loss
The difference for certain brackets comes from the weired hidden AP you get in the 257-260, 261-264 and 265-268 brackets.
If you are lower then lets say 250 with Kutum, you gain a good chunk of hidden AP over what you may get with a Kutum TRI Kutum on monster AP.
For PvE, that changes with more sheet AP.
From my stats
279/281/244 with Kutum
I just do it only for the awakening part
Kutum
281 AP = 154 hidden AP
TET Kutum = +58 monster AP
12 extra accuracy
10 extra evasion
244 DP = 20% DR
- 10% to ignore resistance
Nouver
293 AP = 174 hidden AP
TET Nouver = +4 monster AP
233 DP = 18% DR
+ 10% resistance
So in my case. I lose 34 extra AP vs monster, 12 acc, 10 eva and 2% DR.
However, for PvP, you want that extra 20 bracket AP and maybe rater the 10% resistance.

Don't forget Turo's is a duo grind rotation to begin with. If you're soloing there you need to be well above the recommended ap to kill even remotely fast.
*Laughs* I had absolutely no idea they're monsters designed for DUO, haha. I only knew I have a quest to kill 50 of them, haha. That explains a lot. In my well over 5000 hours so far in this game I've never yet been in a group with anyone. I've been attacked from time to time, and periodically I get to have conversations with people who attacked me afterward. But because I'm legally blind and have no peripheral vision at all, I don't usually know when there's a stranger around me while I'm fighting monsters. Often they'll talk to me, and I don't even notice I'd been talked to until I see it in the journal half an hour later.

Hello. I recently got my Awakening Guardian to 257/264/323 AP/AW/DP with TET Nouver Shield, but I've been hearing there are some places good for solo which need 233 (edit: 333) or so DP but don't need more than 250ish AP (such as Kratuga Ruins). As I'd saved up a bit over 2 billion silver over the last couple of months, I saw I could afford a TET Kutum shield, so I bought it.
First the Background:
Comparison of stats Nouver vs Kutum:
Nouver
257 (+83) AP
264 (+101) AW
323 DP (147+346 Evasion, 180+49 DR, DR rate +17%)
Nouver has All resistances +10% and AP vs Monsters +4
I added crystals which add +5 and +5 All AP
Kutum
245 (+48) AP
252 (+57) AW
334 DP (157+376 Evasion, 181+49 DR, DR Rate of +18%)
Kutum has AP vs Monsters +58 and Ignore all resistances 10%
I added crystals which add +5 and +5 All AP
I then tested with Kutum a couple of rift bosses and various monster spots which were fairly easy with the Nouver shield.
Right away I noticed I got knocked down a lot more, and the lower 10% resistances on Kutum seemed to make a significant impact. I also felt like it took quite a bit longer to kill rift bosses with 252 AW compared to 264 AW in spite of the +AP to monsters from the shield and the TET BlackStar awakening Jordun I was using which adds +8 vs all species and +15 vs monsters.
Basically I feel like I wasted 2.2 billion as I feel weaker defensively and offensively with Kutum.
The Question:
I have ten or eleven alts, including a Lahn, a Sorceress and a Witch which I like to give my best hand me downs from my Guardian. And I have a coupon to convert a sub weapon to another class for free.
Should my guardian sit on the shield until she gets higher AP gear on the hope the Kutum Shield will eventually be useful to her, or is it better to give the Kutum sub weapon to another class who would benefit more from it?

My friend and I were testing kd res with our guards when we were farming flames at turo's. He added kd res boot gems and honestly it worked pretty well. I think you can get about 40-50% kd res. As for nouver it really depends on what your doing, while you might get some res from it I dont know if its really worth it. I mainly pve and dont enjoy the bdo scene since im not very good at it. But in all honesty if you want to get kd's less just go with the boots and swap them out when your done at turos or where ever your farming.
At 245 ap kutum your about as geared as a season server. Id work on getting your ap up more, replace accessories, or whatever you plan is. Its a great start and you'll get there if you keep trying. Enjoy the grind dont take it to serious :)
