Another gem I took recently, while gathering in the mountains overlooking Calpheon.
Looking out over expansive landscapes and taking screenshots used to be one of the areas where this game's visuals really stood out. They still stand out now but... for entirely different reasons, none of which are good.
This isn't even on Remastered. This is ULTRA, at 4k with everything maxxed. This is somehow from the same company that put so much care into crafting this detailed world in the first place, then invested money into remastering the graphics in 2018-19 to try and keep it looking modern. By April 2021 they somehow became okay with silently pushing this jarring, sloppy mess instead, hoping nobody notices, then burying their heads in the sand for almost two years and ignoring all the people telling them just how awful they made the game look.

Not there's much to gaze at while at sea, with everything (including your own boat) empty and depressing, but the graphical issues are bringing it to a new level.
I used to play in Ultra with FSR, for the added beauty, but there's none be had now, so this just remastered now. Beautiful pop-ins and gummy textures on the rocks, while every other island has just the basic shape with no props at all.

Slowly getting used to sight of marshmallow rocks and walls and patches of floor here and there. Need to really take a pic after exiting a dungeon as well, its such a 2005 vibe treat for eyes. The only thing preventing me from seeing it in such state as often is the fog filter....Rip castle. Remastered max setting, +60 fps.

Taking a more constructive whining approach, it would seem that the drawing distance is botched harder on Ultra and Remastered (as it should be, right? high-end and all that). The texture pop-ins and random flipped normals still happen on "Very High", but they get corrected from a much bigger distance. Could it be that it's just a number that needs changed in the "High-End" section? :D It would be so silly, to go through almost 2 years of potato graphics for this.
