Why can't we have an IG channel with RP tag?

You could easly rename Olvia5 into ''RP_something'' and remove its level cap, turning it into a normal PVPVE channel where the RP players can just meet.

It doesn't need any special rules. Let people farm, lifeskill etc. as per usual. The only diffrence it will have is that it will have an RP tag, so people whos willing to RP can just go there. In a game like BDO where you have ''acceptable'' amounts of tools, godly immersion, and freedom of channel swapping, a normal channel with an RP tag is the LEAST PA can do.

Joining a dedicated community shouldn't be a solution for something so easly fixable. Walkup RPs are, imho, bread and butter of roleplaying.

Roleplayers aren't enough to justify such a thing. And it won't prevent other players joining the server.

That's the problem. Most guilds and people in the game go to official RPing channels to grind and cause chaos because they know most are undergeared.

I agree.

I think practically every MMO should have a dedicated Server or atleast Chat. I think Blizzard does a pretty good job on enforcing RP on their most popular RP server ( Moonguard ).

In the very least they should add an RP chat channel that is monitored for trolls & toxicity.

I agree with this ^^ Players will intentionally go to RP servers, not just in BDO, to gain an advantage in other aspects of the game.

The people on these servers are spending most of their time Role Playing with the ocmmunity and doing what they find fun, not focusing on min/maxing their gear improvemnt and combat skills. Its not very fair for them to be targeted and suffer for wanting to spend hours doing what they enjoy.

I do see both sides of the argument though and can sympathize with both.

You say most of them are undergeared but want it to be a pvpve type of area, like everywhere else that isn't olvia or seasonal.

This, alone, will bring chaos as well. Anyone looking to pvp will try to find pvp and seeing as you are rpers, people now a days like to troll rps.

Everyone playing a rp ever is a rper. So I don't know why people make fun of rpers rping because, by definition just playing a rpg/action rpg or anything rp related makes you a RPer.  But the point is is that people love to grief and troll, especially if you're having fun playing your character in a different way. It's more because RPing gets a bad wrap, especially in NA where "every" RP is looked at as an "ERP" by those looking in at your rp; even if it's not an erp at all. Because people get too horny over nothing. You can blow wind on someone's eyebrow and they're horny for no reason.

And because they're horny, that means you're horny and they just assume you're ErPing with your digital waifu, so that provokes more trolling and more rude behavior, especially in a pvpve area where someone can just roll up and end your rp.

In every game, as a matter of fact. I lost count of non-RPers admitting they picked a RP server because it's 'easier to be competitive'.

Now, I'd still like to see a dedicated channel where RPers could join forces, whatever their language, to show these people we're a tight-knit community and sometimes don't believe in a fair fight. ;)

Immediatly the PKers will take advantage in a PvPvE server meant for RP to show how "StronK" they are. Considering that half of those said RPers are not skilled PvPers. Oh. Not to mention trolling will be a common sight, regardless of what penalties are followed. There is a saying: "Careful what you wish for."

I have a confession to make: based on your phrasing, I'm unable to decide if you're being plain-old patronizing – or if you're merely worried, expressing genuine concern about what could/would happen.

Or if you're simply tired. Happens to us all...

I understand your perspective – as previously stated, it's something I witnessed in almost every online game I played during the past two decades. I know you're not exagerating, I know it for a fact, and I know it's still a thing in 2021*. I also know that if one can be targeted because of their playstyle, one can also be targeted because of their language, their gender, and so on. To put things bluntly, about any reason will do. Griefers gonna grief.

Now let's try and see the glass half-full, shall we?

First of all, I'm not sure the statement 'half of [...] RPers are not skilled PvPers' applies only to roleplayers. In my experience, half of all players – whether they're roleplayers or not – are not skilled PvPers. And they're not targeted any less. I've read too many players stating: 'life skilling is for carebears, true players go PvP' right after one-shoting you. I've also seen too many players purposedly dismounting trainers just for the sake of ruining their AFK-training**. Or AFK-fishing. And so forth. Once again, griefers gonna grief.

And I've seen roleplayers be griefers, too. Because no community is griefer-free. Just a matter of statistics.

Now, there's still the other half, with skilled PvPers.

In my experience, there's usually a very strong sense of community among roleplayers. They're quick to put their differences aside and come together, as a group, to stand up for themselves, and for their chosen playstyle. They also tend to be warm, funny, open-minded people, for whom it's easy to make friends – even among people who picked a different playstyle. People who would probably be happy to help prove those 'See how StronK I am?' griefers that they ain't as overpowered as they think.

And that's what I was trying to highlight.

Of course, some griefers won't get the memo. Ever. That's just the way things are.

As for trolling... A charming blonde once sung: '/ignore is players' best friend'***.

To me, getting an officially-labeled channel for roleplayers would not only mean it'd be easier for them to assemble – whatever their language, time zones, or backstories – but also a way to promote such a playstyle, maybe encouraging new players into trying it.

Now I ain't holding my breath. Chances are it won't happen, ever. But in case it does, I'd first clap and cheer, then I'd worry about figuring out a way to deal with griefers. After all, aren't we roleplayers used to treat everything that happens as an opportunity, rather than a fatality?

Food for thoughts. Thank you for reading me – it got longer that I expected it to, and for that I apologize.

* Try and play RDO for a couple hours.
