The Art of Success

Ever wondered how to make the jump to new heights? Not to struggle with silver anymore? How to progress in a linear fashion, not bound by the fates of RNG?

Keep going then. It really is simple.

First of all, let me preface this with the following, for many this may seem obvious, others will say isn't everyone doing this already? yes of course - but my entire time playing BDO, I have seen too many people do these small errors, that will hurt them in the long run.

This is not a step-by-step money making guide either. Just a write-up to help you get rid of bad habits.

1.) Routine:

If you don't have a gameplay routine yet and you're fine with setting up a to-do list, do it now. Trust me, it will change the way you progress through the game. No more 30 minutes of aimlessly wandering around Heidel, doing nothing.

Need an example of what that list could look like? Here goes:

- Do daily quests e.g. Lara in Heidel ( you can further add more daily quests to this, like sailing dailies, hunting dailies and so on, customize it to your playstyle )

- Empty your energy e.g. butcher meat, chop trees, exchange them for energy potions ( even if you absolutely don't feel like gathering, exchange a few characters for energy potions, this is passive income )

- Get rid of your Agris fever ( No matter if you're heavily geared or just starting out, emptying your Agris is a huge daily boost in silver )

- Park alts at world bosses and take them down ( you may never know what drops! )

- Process the before mentioned gathered materials OR store them until you have the desired amount. ( Again, customize this behavior to your own playstyle, I like to hoard and gather materials and then process them all in a huge session, you can always process them daily to sell then as well )

This is just a very basic example. You can add a lot to this, keep it in a notepad and look at it every now and then and work these down, you will quickly realize, how many opportunities there are to get materials, silver, experience in form of simple and quick tasks, most people just brush off after a while. You can or should extend this to more than 1 character as well. Chop trees with your main, get milk with your alt. A routine is important and you will quickly see the benefit of having one.

2.) A hoarders paradise:

Black Desert offers a huge array of storage options, plenty cities and villages, wagons, alts, the tent. Make use of it. Hoard, hoard, hoard. This is the key to success right here. Why hoard? Because you may never know, what items you may need in the future. Even the ones in heavy abundance like Fire Horns or the Kagtum Submission Ring have shown to be scarce when needed for Events ( Mysteries of Summer 2020 as an example ).

You can't lose silver, if you don't have to buy anything. You get plenty of Black Stones, Hards/Sharps, Memory Fragments, Materials. Hoard them and use them only when you truly need them. The same goes for materials, maybe you want to start getting into Alchemy or Cooking in a few months from now, you know what would help? Having a huge storage full of materials, without the need to spent millions upon millions of silver first. Also, there is no better feeling than looking at your storage and seeing thousands of rare materials just sitting there, waiting for you to use them, with no downtime.

Also, learn to clean up your storages. Use every city for a specific type of material, this will save you the neverending clutter of messy storages. Example how I use mine: Calpheon is for everything wood related, Altinova everything ore and gems, Olvia for Alchemy, Velia for Cooking, Heidel for PvE related Items like accessories, rare drops etc, Keplan for misc. Items you may need in the future like Quest Items, Tarif for Boss Scrolls. And so on, this is a huge help to have a sorting system like this.

3.) Patience:

A big problem I have noticed among friends, guild mates and other players and of course in myself is the following: We all hate waiting don't we?

But patience is in conjunction with hoarding the real truth to progression. Look, I know it is hard to press I and to see the same AP/DP values for 3 weeks straight, we all miss the beautiful days of gaining huge upgrades every day, but those days are over, we are in the Endgame now. So show patience, hoard and sell only trash, rare drops and boxes to get your silver and then - w a i t - before you know it, you have 20+ billion in storage. Enough to grab your very first PEN item. And now what? You are able to gain those 20+ billion even faster now, you show patience again and there you go - PEN item Nr.2. Rinse and repeat. Before you know it, you are decked out.

Are these obvious ways of progression? Yes, of course. But we all need some discipline and routine to get where we are needed. No impulse buying, no impulse enhancing - these are all things, that while they may make us rich, will slow us down tremendously, if not set us back months in progression. Value your time, value your progression. Show patience. You can do it.

Goodbye Adventurer.
