Question
How can I change the Find Npc UI from the hidden one you need to click on for the full window to appear, into the one that collapses and can extend to the left? It is more compact and after some update or other it was like that, but I reset my UI preset for a different issue and now the Find NPC UI also reverted.

The UI element that you're talking about only appears for new and returning players. After 30 days, you won't be able to get that UI element back
