You want to pick up 5 Abyssal Pearls which are hidden throughout the cave. Avoid the troll! Pick the pearls up and carry them to the altar. There will be a beam of light illuminating it. Once all 5 are correctly on the altar, you'll see the black cat again which you should then talk to.
