[Adventurer’s Story] BDO has changed my life!

Black Desert Online has literally changed my life for the better.
Back in the summer of 2016, I was in a Guild. It was the kind of Guild where we hung out on voice chat and spent our evenings playing together in-game over a drink or two. In this Guild I met a particular Warrior who was different from the rest. He would spend hours grinding Sausans with me and while everyone else couldn’t keep up, he would always remain by my side. We were the Ranger/Warrior duo, and it was an absolutely fantastic time.
From exploring the whole of the Valencia desert on day one of release, to running quests together...not forgetting backing each other up in our Guild’s Node Wars - it was well known by the end of the year that we came as a pair. We even had a ‘Guild Wedding’ where our Guild Master ‘married’ us in Heidel Church, complete with everyone in matching colours and the Guild Elephant as our wedding car!
But this was only a game, right? The casual flirting and spending so much time together surely couldn’t relate to anything in the real world? After all, we both lived in totally different countries with a whole ocean between us.
Well, one day he spoke of wanting to come visit me in person. And thus, the inseparable pair in BDO became a pair in the real world too. The long distance relationship at first was hard, however BDO was a major contributing factor to making it work, since every evening we were there together, playing the game. However, our guild mates still didn’t think it was real, since when were video game romances ever something that lasts?
Eventually this Warrior of mine decided to move to my country so that we could settle down together. We set up our home with both our gaming PC’s side by side so we could continue to play for hours, just as we would when appart.
Unfortunately the Black Desert adventure has now faded for him...however we are about to embark on our own adventure as almost a year ago he asked me to marry him, and I said yes! Our wedding will be held in August of this year and I am incredibly excited about it!!
I still continue to play BDO to this day as it is the perfect game for me.
I am now the leader of my own Guild and I have often told my love story to guild mates and friends who never knew of the Ranger/Warrior duo we used to be. I will never forget those fantastic years and because of this experience, BDO holds an extra special place in my heart. We even have a drawing an old guild mate did of our characters framed in our home.
If it was not for Black Desert Online, I never would have met the love of my life and future Husband - so thank you Pearl Abyss for giving me this gift!

beautiful story - i too met the love of my life in a mmorpg (in my case, ESO) and i know how special it can be considering the challenges of long distance. so happy for you two!

When I was reading this post, I can imagined the emotion that you are going through. It made my day, it also made me cried. It's beautiful. Congrats to you both.
